Second Wave Timascus A51 Larvae!

Hi Folks,

Well Happy Monday to you! It was a spectacular weekend here, bit rainy at times but the late Spring temperatures were just right and perfect for the beginning of the outdoor music season. There have always been great musicians in this area and it was nice to catch some live outdoor performances.

I managed to squeeze in some work this weekend as well and got most of the remaining Timascus Larva tools done. I will have a handful more with stamps coming up shortly too. Anyhow, these are all with A51 grinds and are $75 plus shipping. The link is below...thank you for stopping by, and hope your week is shaping up to be a good one!

Sold Out, thank you everyone! :)

Generation 3 TightWads

Hi Everyone,

Well it's another warm and muggy day here in New England with storm in the forecast. We're having a very nice spring for sure and my garden is absolutely thriving. I expect we will see a very hot summer coming up though, and they are predicting a tough hurricane season ahead.

I've been chipping away at the various projects. I got the rest of the timascus Larva tools ground and tumbled out, now just need to give them final color treatments. I finally started grinding the long awaited steel MiniBars and those should be ready to send to heat treat later next week. I will tackle steel Prybabies after those are done, and I have a big batch of timascus Tombstones to start on as well. I'm also contemplating making another batch of titanium Count Sporkulas and perhaps one more timascus item this summer, to be decided.

Today I have some cool new titanium Generation 3 TightWads for you. These have been waiting for quite some time for me to get around to finishing them up and I have actually been working on them for weeks. They are slow going because they like to stick together in the tumblers, so I just do a handful at a time and usually combine them with other items. Even then, many need to be tumbled over and over until they are right...the batch today is titanium but a huge batch of the same design in 301 half hard stainless steel  is also awaiting finishing for later this year.

At any rate, these are fully loaded with features. First is enhanced deep side grips which also allow for easy access to your cards and cash. Next we have the ubiquitous cap lifter and 5/16 wrench combo, as well as 1/2" and 9/16" wrench openings. Then there is a 8-11mm wrench set. Finally, there is a central slot and you might wonder what that is for. :) When I designed these I was looking for a way to add even more features and I realized that a slot would allow for insertion of SAK toothpick, tweezers or pen. This works very well, and you can actually add two tools back to back if you want.

Now, what I did not anticipate was that the bands might be compromised if they are pierced, and many people seem to go through bands quicker than I thought. So, I am going to leave the bands unpierced and let you DIY if you want to try the SAK tool feature. I recommend using a leather punch and using the smallest hole punch size if you choose to do it. One more thing, I don't have an endless supply of bands, but the TightWads use a standard Youth (not adult!) size wrist band, so you can easily get as many as you need from any online wrist band maker. They are customizable too.

Lastly, the TightWads are all stamped with a wide variety of images!

Gen 3 TightWads will run $70 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for popping in today and have a great weekend ahead!

All gone for now, thank you so much!

Timascus A51 Larva Tools!

Happy Tuesday Everyone! I hope you all had a great long weekend. It was gorgeous here right up until yesterday when we got 2 inches of rain dumped on us. It's a steamy jungle out there this morning.

I've been chugging along here and have been super busy. In addition to the shop projects, we just had a new roof put on last week, and lots of other home projects large and small. Most of it is done though, so looks like I can finally put some significant time in down in the shop without the endless distractions...I have a pile of new Generation 2 TightWads ready for packaging. I'm finally ready to finish the grinding of steel MiniBars. And I have a big batch of timascus Tombstones that I will be starting on soon.

Today I have the first wave of Timascus Larva tools with A51 grinds ready to go. These are super cute little guys, and at a diminutive 1.75 inches long, fans of my smallest tools will really enjoy them. Most of them are heat colored but I have a couple with electrical anodizing (less distinct patterning) if anyone wants to email me for them. Also a couple with stamps, although I elected to forego the stamps on most of these and let the pattern speak for itself on the small space. The Atwood stamp is on the back side.

There are quite a few more of these coming in the next few weeks as I make my way through the batch so no worries if you miss out today. They will run $75 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for coming by today, and for your endless patience!

Sold out for today, thank you so much!

Last of the A51 Timascus Poltergeists!

Happy Friday Everyone,

It's a bit cloudy here today, but all in all it has been a lovely couple of weeks. We seem to finally be past the freezing nights and I have cautiously been planting out my peppers, as well as some squash and cucumber plants, although I do cover them at night. The tomatoes that I started from seed are almost big enough to put outside and will be going into the ground next week.

Projects have been limping along. This is one of those periods where things are endlessly delayed and many family and home responsibilities keep distracting me. Our roof will be getting replaced in a week or two and most of the routine seasonal home maintenance stuff is falling on my shoulders this year. I have cut down numerous small trees and cleared a ton of brush this spring too. On the shop front, my long time waterjet guy retired, so I've been scrambling to figure out how to get new parts cut. I continue to work on stuff in the shop though and I am almost done with the first batch of the little Timascus Larva tools which will be coming next week. I also have some more ti TightWads underway and some misc smaller batch items.

Today I have the last tranche of Timascus Mini Poltergeists for you. These have wild Area 51 style grinds and gorgeous finishes. They are torch colored like the previous ones, but I do have two with  electrical anodized rainbow finishes if anyone wants to email me for them. And there is one lefty remaining. Don't be afraid to carry and use these little guys as the finish is very durable. I opened numerous paint cans last week with mine and there is not a mark on it.

Timascus Mini Poltergeists will run $99 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for popping in today and I hope you have a glorious spring weekend ahead!

Sold Out, thank you so much!

RIP Steve Albini. World class jerk, but the recorded some of the best albums of my generation.

More Timascus Poltergeists!

Howdy Folks, and Happy Friday!

We're slowly getting some spring time weather here in the northeast but my birdbath still froze overnight. I think maybe tonight might be the last of the below freezing temperatures that we will see until fall, but I will be covering any plants that I dare to put out in the meantime. We finally had some lovely sunny days in the past week, and I've been catching up on my garden preparation and neglected yard work, as well as some painting and staining.

Today I have some more of the Timascus Mini Poltergeists done. These have a variety of A51 style grinds and are all torch colored. There are still a couple dozen more that need grinding and finishing, but I will keep chipping away at them. Timascus Mini Larva tools be coming shortly as well, and I am contemplating a run of Timascus beads this summer, so stay tuned.

Timascus Poltergeists will run $99 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for popping in, and I hope you have a lovely spring weekend ahead!

Gone in a jiffy, thank you so much!

Patterned G2 Keytons

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Man, winter just will not quit. We're getting a last gasp of cold rainy weather here today with a couple of inches of heavy wet snow and gloomy skies coming tomorrow morning. I guess Mother Nature didn't get the memo that the calendar changed weeks ago, but at least they are predicting temps in the 60's next week. I just read that we have had only 17 days with sunny skies since January first, so it isn't my imagination that the gray skies have been nonstop.

Not too much to report on the projects but I am slowly working on them. Will have more tools coming up very soon.

Today I have a real blast from the past for you. These are a small stash of Original Titanium G2 Keytons with anodizing and patterning! I made these many years ago and they were hiding in a box all this time. I have only 12 of them, so it is a TINY batch and no more will be made. All are different with various patterns and coloring. No lefties I'm afraid.

Patterned Titanium G2 Keytons will run $95 plus shipping and the link is below. Thank you as always for your endless patience, and for stopping by today.

Gone in a flash, thank you so much!

Timascus Mini Poltergeists

Happy Easter Weekend Everyone! It's a bit raw and gloomy here this morning. The sun is supposed to make an appearance later this morning, and it should be a cool but lovely early spring weekend ahead.

I've been chugging along and slowly working on various projects. Not too much to report, but I did make some headway on a new technique which will allow me to stamp thinner items much more easily, so that is very good. You can expect the next waves of TightWads and perhaps some new Count Sporkulas to have stamps. I also need to get going on grinding some steel now that it is not quite so freezing cold in the shop.

Today I have a tiny batch of fancy torch colored Timascus Mini Poltergeists for you! These are just the first dozen pieces, and the bulk of the batch will be coming in a couple of weeks. They are all right handed ones today, but I will have some more lefties coming up in the regular batch sale as well.

Timascus Mini Poltergeists will run $99 plus shipping and the link is below. Have a great weekend and I hope warmer weather is on the way for you as well.

Gone in a flash! Thank you so much. :)

Titanium TightWads

Happy Spring Everyone! It really is nice to be able to say that, and I am looking forward to some warmer days ahead. Of course, Winter has a few ideas about that and is sending us another week of cooler weather, and maybe another inch or two of snow, just to remind us of our follies...

I continue to plug away at the projects in the shop. Currently I'm going through a bunch of these TightWads from several years ago. They are slow going as the broad flat shape does not interact well with tumblers, so I can only do a few a time and have to constantly babysit them or they all bunch up in a clump and rub together making marks which then have to be further tumbled away to even everything out. Tedious, hehe!

These updated TightWads feature various hex openings, O2 wrench, cap lifter and enhanced side grips. They are made of .060 titanium, so thin enough to be very lightweight, but plenty thick enough to be totally rigid and strong. Cash on one side, cards and ID on the other, or however you want to organize for a light minimalist wallet carry. These have a plain tumbled finish which I believe will wear the best in a hostile environment such as a pants stamps because they are too thin to stamp effectively. Getting color anodizing to come out evenly is difficult with something this large, plus anodized colors will not wear well in a pocket and they fingerprint with oils and grime too easily.

I will send these with an extra band as well. These take a standard Youth Size wrist band, so you can use any commercial Youth Size band that is available or have personalized ones made very easily. And yes, I do have some lefties! ;)

Plain Titanium TightWads will run $75 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for popping in and have a great weekend ahead!

All gone for now, thank you so much! I will have yet another version of these coming up at some point soon.

Hexy TightWads

Hi Everyone, and Happy Tuesday!

It's a cool and crisp one here today and supposed to only be in the 40's. Looks like maybe an inch of snow later this week, so winter isn't done with us just yet, but it's getting darned close.

Going through some half forgotten older projects the other day I came across these early TightWads. These were made of hexagonal textured stainless steel, very similar material as the Tableman coasters I made a while back. So they are a bit heavy, but very cool nonetheless. I only have 10 of them and no more will be made of this particular material, but I do have a couple of other oddball titanium ones from this era if anyone cares to email me... And there are two more batches of unfinished TightWads in brand new designs that I have been putting off finishing for a long time.

Hexy TightWads will run $85 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for swinging by and have a great day!

Sold out, thank you!

Carbon Fiber RubRats

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the long radio silence!

I've been perpetually stuck between projects and then had to catch up with taxes, paperwork and early spring household chores. I still don't have any major projects ready to go, but I did manage to make some very good progress on two of them. Timascus Mini Poltergeists and tiny Timascus Larva tools are finally all prepped out and just need milling before the grinding and final finishing steps. They still have a lot of work left but the most miserable hand sanding prep work has been completed which took a solid couple of weeks...I also have several small misc batches of older odds and ends which I am getting together right now.

Today I have a few dozen Carbon Fiber RubRats for you. These little guys are handy for quieting your jangling keys down and for preventing brassing from the rubbing of keys against fancy tools or other valuable items.

RubRats will run $20 plus shipping the link is below. Thanks for dropping in and hope spring is coming early for you all as well!

All gone, thank you everyone!

Dungeon Black Tiny Tims

Well Happy Tuesday to you all! It's a glorious sunny day out there this morning and the light is getting stronger every day. We're still due up for some more cold days ahead, but you can tell the tide is turning and it won't be long before some milder weather comes around.

I've been slowly working on several projects. I have some timascus Mini Poltergeists started and am in the middle of sanding them down and prepping them out for milling. They still have a lot of work before the finish line but are coming along nicely. I have a big batch of 3v Steel Prybabies that have now been milled and are on deck for grinding. I still keep putting off the Stubby MiniBars but will have to bite the bullet and put in some time in front of the grinder very soon on those too...

Today I have some super cool little tools for you. Fans of my smallest tools will appreciate this handy new version of the Tiny Tim with rear pry tip, 1/4 hex lanyard, cap lifter, extra leverage mini pry tip, and 5/16 hex wrench. These compact little gems are CPM 154 steel with a rather wild and unusual Dungeon Black finish on them!

I had a great deal of fun with these and the depth and variation of the highly distressed antique blackened finish is quite interesting. Expect character marks, scars, and patina galore! They truly look like something dug up from an ancient Iron Age battleground site and displayed in a museum...very fun stuff. :) There is a wide variety of stamps here, as well as a handful without stamps for anyone who wishes to request a plain one. I also have a half dozen lefties...

Dungeon Black Tiny Tims will run $65 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for swinging by today and I hope warm Spring weather is coming to you sooner rather than later.

Sold out, thank you so much!

Timascus Prybabies!

Howdy all!

It's a bright and sunny one out there today, a welcome change from the endless dreary gray days that we have had for the past few weeks. The light is getting stronger and the days a bit longer too. A good time to start a few seeds for my tiny Alpine strawberries that I want to grow this year and that take a long time to get going.

Well today I have a super cool treat for you. These Timascus Prybabies are quite dazzling...the somewhat gummy material is absolutely dreadful to work with and does not mill cleanly at all. So I decided to skip the V notches on these and make them with simple bevels instead which I could grind rather than mill. They actually look very cool like this and I may make a few of the 3v steel ones this way later this year. Anyhow, The hand work involved with these is considerable, and require many more steps than usual, but I think the extra labor was worth it!

I experimented with electrical anodizing and was underwhelmed with the finished effect. Yes, I could get more colors, but they are not as interesting, and two tone effects were a bit of a let down compared to regular titanium. And they already had way too much time into them to justify yet a second round of tumbling and reanodizing which is the way I normally achieve contrasting effects.

So that left me with the torch method of coloring. I quickly found out that method required yet a different set of steps to get what I wanted, but I finally worked it out and settled on a good routine. These Prybabies vary in the color and contrast of the finishes, and the color palette is more limited. But the Timascus patterning is more vivid...And most importantly, heat coloring is far more durable than ordinary surface coloring, so these will hold up well for a long time, even in a relatively "hostile" environment such as a keyring....

And, for more of this material, I have a huge batch of Tombstones, another of Mini Poltergeists, and a third batch of tiny Larva tools that will be coming this year as well. So, lots of timascus items will be on the way as I get to them. Also, there is a lefty here today if anyone wants to email me for it.

Timascus Prybabies will run $99 plus shipping. The batch is tiny, so one per customer please...a second batch will be coming a few weeks. Have a great week ahead and thank you as always for visiting today!

All gone, thank you so much!

White Delrin MultiGrip Beads

Hi Everyone,

Well, we just had a little cold spell and now we're looking at pretty mild temps ahead for the next week. So far we really have gotten off easy this winter, but we'll see how it goes in February.

Not too much to report on the projects. I will do a little grinding over this next week. I also need to fix a tumbler that is having some issues and change the ceramic media which is getting worn out. But I will have more tools coming up very soon.

Today I have some white Delrin MultiGrip beads for you. These were left over from a few years ago and are some of the last beads with the smaller 1/2 inch diameter. The included rubber o-ring dresses up the hour glass shape rather nicely and adds a bit more grip to them, hence the name. ;)

White Delrin MultiGrips will run $30 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for popping in today and I hope your week is shaping up to be a dandy!

All gone, thank you so much. :)

Area 51 Steel Superbug Tools

Well Happy Thursday Everyone. It's a sunny but frosty one out there this morning. I've already been out wrestling with my steep driveway and cleaning up what I missed from yesterday. I still have a little bit more to do later, but this is always a good physical workout for me so I don't mind. No need for a gym membership when you have a country property to keep up in New England!

Today I have some more CPM 154 steel Mini Superbug tools for you, this time with Area 51 grinds. A really sweet compact tool that is easy to carry and pretty much my favorite of the captive bit designs. These are stamped, although I do have a handful of non stamped A51 pieces for anyone who wants a plain one, just drop me an email. There are also some stamped lefties available as well.

A51 Superbugs will run $75 plus shipping and the link is below. Thank you as always for swinging by today, and I hope your week is going well. :)

Sold out, thank you so much!

Stamped Brass Megas

Hi Folks,

Snow is coming down pretty good this morning, but it is light and fluffy. We will probably get 4-5 inches and then we're in for a deep cold snap for at least a week or more.

I finally got all caught up with paperwork and inventory tasks and am looking at projects for the winter. I'm just about ready to go with the steel A51 Mini Superbugs. Still haven't decided on final finishes for the steel Tiny Tims, but they are coming as well. I have some grinding to do on some other items, but will definitely have some more tools coming up very soon. As for ceramics, I'm slowly working on a few new items and will have some of those coming in a couple of weeks.

Today I have some Brass 6 Flute Mega beads for you. These are all stamped. The plain ones without stamps were all gone awhile ago, so just these stamped ones remain. They have my usual wide variety of stamps, and all of the images are quite small of course.

Stamped Brass Megas will run $35 each plus the shipping. Thanks for coming by today, and stay warm out there!

Sold out, thank you so much!

Happy New Year! :)

Happy New Year Everyone! Hope you all had a great holiday week and had some time to relax. It finally is trending a little sunnier here after weeks of gloom and damp. But now it's turning a little cooler and I think we have a few inches of snow on the way for the weekend.

I've been catching up on paperwork and will probably take a few days here to take it easy and just pick away a bit at some projects. Coming up in late January or early February will be 3v Steel Prybabies. I have a small batch of timascus tools that I will get going on in the next week or so. I have a big batch of steel Tiny Tims that came back from heat treat right before the holidays and I need to sit down and figure out how I want to finish those. Some A51 Mini Superbugs are coming along and will be done soon. I have several batches of items that need grinding, and a few things that I started last year but never really got going on them. It's been a pattern for years, but I seem to often be good at starting stuff and then losing interest temporarily, only to take it up again a little later, any rate, this is likely to be a very busy winter so stay tuned for all sorts of interesting goodies!

Today I have some left over plain Atomic Wedgies for you. I also have a handful of the stamped ones left as well if anyone wants to email for them...all of the lefties are gone btw...

Atomic Wedgies run $85 plus shipping and the link is below. As always, I thank you for popping in today and hope 2024 is a great one for you all.

Plain are all gone! I do have a few more stamped if anyone wants to email me...thanks again folks. :)
