Cool. Does your stamp get worn out? Do you ruin any pieces at this stage ? :)

Yes, I have ruined pieces at this stage. Couple of times I've had things crack. Other times it was was because of a double stamp as I attempted to restamp where it didn't come out right the first time. It's infuriating too because a lot of work has already gone into the piece. But it doesn't happen often and there are usually ways to fix it.

The same stamp has lasted me for 6 years and is only just now beginning to show signs that it should be replaced.

Does the piece that you are stamping have to be heated or is it a cold stamp?

Is the stamp made from something special that gives it a higher hardness rating than that which you are stamping?

The "d" on my Prybaby is not as deep as the rest of the letters on the signature. It just means that it is really a hand made piece.

The pieces are stamped before heat treat so they are in the annealed state. The stamp itself is made of super tough S7 tool steel and is very hard. I don't always hold the stamp straight up and down and so it is sometimes lighter on one side than the other.

The d on my prybaby is also lighter than the other letters, but that just makes it special. ;)
