Pryons with New Heat Wave Finish

Hello Everyone,

We've got gray skies here today, and it's rather chilly. But at least I can report that over the drizzly weekend the tiny patch of snow in the backyard has finally succumbed. We have daffodils just about ready to break into bloom and I'm sure there are some hungry little juvenile newts roaming the woods looking for springtails.

Today I thought I would post something a little different. I have worked with these materials for so many years that I sometimes forget that there are other directions that I could go in. Titanium is roughly half the weight and twice as strong as steel for prying, but much softer, so that means it deforms and scratches more easily. For years I have played around with electrical anodizing and developed many different types of finishes, but I generally ignore heat treating because the resulting colors are not as vivid and they are much more difficult to control. Heating also alters the surface of the metal by laying down a very tough layer of oxides. So if you do want to make a change in coloring or finish, then it makes for a ton of extra work. The heat treat process hardens the surface of the metal, and that can be used for an advantage in that it increases the scratch resistance and improves the material's tendency for deformation. You can never achieve the hardness and toughness of steel, but it definitely does have a noticeable effect on wear and tear.

So today I have a batch of Titanium Pryon Tools for you. This is the trial run featuring my new Heat Wave finish. For now I am just doing a military-like grayish bronze color, but I will play around and see what else I can come up with down the road. Today's Pryons feature my usual array of crazy stamps, but I do have a few without if anyone wishes to request them. And I do have a couple of lefties as well.

Pryons with Heat Wave Finish will run $70 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for coming by, and I hope your week is a lovely one despite the worrisome world.

All gone, thank you so much!

Steel Skeletaurs Return

Hi Folks,

We're having April showers here today, and temps in the 40's. Very typical for this time of year. I'm hoping that between the showers today and the 60's temperature tomorrow we might finally bid goodbye to the ugly glacier in the backyard which is slinging tenaciously to life.

Today I have another round of Steel Skeletaurs for you. These were inspired by the classic skeleton keys of the past but given a generous application of AI (Atwood Imagination!) to produce something with more of a multitool flavor. Who knew that I have been using AI all along to design my tools? :)

Anyhow, the Skeletaurs are stamped with a wide variety of images. I also have a few without stamps if anyone wishes to request them, and there are still some lefties (paws, clovers or fish) as well.

Steel Skeletaurs will run $80 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for coming by today, and I hope your upcoming weekend is terrific.

All gone, thank you so much!

Steel P20s!

Howdy Folks,

We're finally thawing out here for the most part. I still have two big piles of snow but they are receding and maybe by next week they will be out of here. Plenty of bulbs are poking up in the flower beds though. The purple and yellow blooms of the crocus, daffodil and Siberian Iris are always a welcome sight to see this time of year.

I've been steadily working away on several new projects, and I am hoping to bring you some new beads later this Spring, among other things. I have numerous tool batches underway as well and will have some new stuff coming up in a few days.

Today I have just seven of these left over CPM154 Steel P20s for you. I saved a few with especially nice stamps.

Steel P20 Micro Batch will run $75 each plus shipping and the link is below. Thank you for dropping by this week and hope you are enjoying the nicer weather!

Sold Out. Thank you so much!

Anodized Ragman Hooks!

Hi Everyone, and Happy Official Spring!

It is still quite chilly here in the Northeast, but a couple more weeks of this raw weather and we should be getting to some milder days. Maybe by then the two huge piles of snow in my yard and the end of my driveway will finally disappear. It can't come soon enough.

Well today I have some more Titanium Ragman Hooks for you. These are anodized with a wide range of colors and effects, and are also stamped with a wide variety of stamped themes. I do have a few colored one without stamps btw, if anyone wishes to email me for them. I also have some stamped ones without coloring, and I have uncolored and unstamped pieces available as well. Just ask. :) And, I have some lefties in this batch too...just a reminder, I no longer have any rags left to go with these, it's BYOR, haha..

Anodized Ragman Hooks will run $60 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for popping in today and I hope you all are staying with it in these crazy times.

All gone for now, thank you so much!

Pryon!

Well, a Happy Thursday to you all, and a one day early Happy Spring! I am so looking forward to some warmer days ahead after the brutal deep freeze we have had this winter. My little pepper plants are looking good and I'm glad I started them a few weeks ago. Tomatoes will get started in a couple of weeks as well.

Well today I have the first small wave of new Titanium Pryon Tools for you. The Pryon, (aka Wrenchikins) are adorable little PryWrenches featuring a 1/2" open off set jaw, a rear 7/16 opening and a sturdy rear pry tip. OAL is 2.9", so quite compact indeed. I have stamped ones today with no anodizing, and there is are also a few without stamps if anyone wishes to request them. No lefties just yet, but I will get to them as I work my way through the batch...

Warning: EDC and Use could result in a case of Chronic Wrenching Disease in the states of CA and MA. Hehe...

Titanium Pryon Tools will run $70 each and the link is below. Thank you for checking in today and I hope your week has been going great.

Sold out for today but more on the way very soon, thank you so much!

Ti ThumbNails

Howdy Folks, and Happy St Patrick's Day!

Well it's a blustery day here with plenty of gusty winds and we won't get out of the 30's. But at least the sun is slated to make some appearances. We still have a few patches of snow on the ground and several giant piles left from the plow but the overall trend is definitely moving towards Spring. I expect to see crocus flowers poking up any day now and the skunk cabbage is starting to come up in the swampy areas down the road from our house.

Today I have some more Titanium ThumbNails for you. Most of these have asymmetrical grinds, stamps and anodizing. I also have a couple of plain ones left if anyone wishes to request them.

Ti ThumbNails will run $55 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for swinging by today and I hope your week is a going well.

Sold out, thank you everyone!

B Stock Beads!

Howdy Folks,

Sorry for the long radio silence lately. A nasty cold made it's rounds in our household and we are still recovering. Then suddenly last week my old work computer went on the fritz and decided to die. So it's been just a tremendous amount of fun battling viruses and then rebuilding a whole new system and recovering all of my files...not! LOL...well, thankfully all that is behind me. Now I have a blazing fast new machine, all of my data was ultimately saved and life is slowly returning to normal.

Updates: Coming up will be a brand new pocket tool design called the Pryon, probably sometime next week. I am currently in the middle of grinding more of the PryDaddy Jr tools. I have another half batch of Zr Keytons to finish and those will be coming up in couple of weeks. I have some more titanium ThumbNail tools that I am almost done with and should be coming up next. In other news, I am in the initial phase of producing some brand new fluted beads, so I am hopeful we could see a batch of them coming this spring. I also have a pile of cool new ceramic mugs that have been bisque fired, and I'm hoping to get up to the studio to glaze them in the next few days. I also have several older projects that have been languishing for way too long, so hopefully I will find some shop time and get them going this spring as well.

Today I have a small batch of older Lanslide beads for you. These are titanium Minis with Racing Stripes and were among the very first batches of mini beads that I made many years ago. This group had been set aside because they were drilled slightly off center for some reason. They may have been the first couple dozen set up pieces that were turned until the program got dialed in properly. At any rate, the out of center hole is not noticeable on a lanyard and the beads are still perfectly serviceable, so it would be a shame to toss them in the bin.

B Stock Racing Striped Beads will run $20 each plus shipping and the purchase link is below. Thanks for popping in today and hope your week is going great!

Gone in a jiffy, thank you so much!

G2 Ghosts

Howdy All,

It's relatively mild this week and at least the ice is almost all off my driveway finally. It's going to be a long two months before we see some actual reasonable temps though. And today we are due for another 6 inches of snow, bleh.

I had just a dozen of these old steel G2 Ghosts laying around. They are technically B stock so expect to see some minor pitting in the steel left over from the heat treat process and lots of minor sanding marks, but they are all quite usable. None are stamped and there are no lefties...

B Stock G2 Ghosts will run $70 plus shipping and it's a tiny batch so one per customer please. Thanks for swinging by and I hope your weekend ahead is stellar!

Gone in a jiffy, thank you so much!

Area 51 Zirconium E115s

Hello Folks,

Well, after many weeks of unbelievably cold temperatures this winter, Mother Nature has finally granted us a reprieve! We are going to reach 30 degrees today, and that is just fantastic. I think I might put a blanket out on the snow and do some sunbathing, hehe. And we are going to be seeing 40's for the next few days, so that will be quite welcome indeed.

I've been busy in the shop grinding tools and making a few mugs. Several new drawings have been finalized as well, so there will be some nice goodies coming up in the next few weeks and months.

Today I have a couple dozen fancy E115 tools for you. This is the tail end of the Zirconium Wroid batch and on these I have elected to give them a wide variety of A51 extra grinds and stamps. No lefties remain unfortunately and no plain ones either, but they do have that new glassy, burnished finish that the recent Zr Keytons had.

A51 Zirconium E115 Wroids will run $90 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for popping in today and hope your upcoming weekend is a warm one.

All gone, thank you so much!

Zirconium Keytons

Howdy Folks!

Brrr...it's another freezing cold day here in New England. I reckon we got somewhere between 15-18 inches of snow over the weekend, but it's hard to say exactly because the snow is so powdery and drifty that it makes measuring very difficult. And the below zero degree and single digit temperatures that accompanied it have been quite miserable. We have a few more days of this and then we should get a little bit of a reprieve, although when 30F feels tropical you know you've been through the ringer!

Today I have the first wave of Zirconium Keytons for you. These came out with a very nice glassy looking finish that I just started experimenting with. They feature my usual wide range of stamps, although I did leave a couple without stamps for anyone who wishes to request them. I also have a couple of lefties.

Zirconium Keytons will run $85 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for swinging by and I hope you're staying warm out there!

Sold out for now, thank you so much!

New Titanium Ragman Hooks

Howdy Folks,

Well it was quite a snowy weekend here in New England. I think we got about 8 inches total but it was spread out into three or four rounds over several days. Enough for the plow guy to come a couple of times even though the amounts were small. Oh well, he has to eat too I reckon.

Today I have some newly designed Titanium Ragman Hooks for you. I really liked this design the first time around, and I found some remaining rags in a box while cleaning out the garage last fall, so I figured I would bring the Ragman back. I tweaked the shape a little bit but they are just as cool as the originals.

These Ragmen are stamped with a wide variety of motifs, and have a plain finish. Each will come with a PPT!! rag. I do have a handful of unstamped hooks too if anyone wants to request them, as well as a few lefties.

Titanium Ragman Hooks will run $55 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for stopping by on this MLK holiday and have a great weeke ahead!

All gone for now, thank you so much!

I've been busy arranging projects and planning stuff out. I have a few new drawings underway and hope to tell you more about those as they develop. I need to get back into the shop this week and do some grinding and tumbling...today and tomorrow would be good opportunities since it's not quite so darned cold. At any rate, rest assured that I have plenty of stuff in the pipeline and will try to keep things rolling over the next several weeks.

Today I have some more amber celadon mugs for you. I still have a couple more to be glazed at the studio and am planning to build a few more new ones in the coming weeks with cool themes, so there will be a slow trickle of them coming this winter.

PryDaddy Jr!

Happy Monday Everyone,

Well it's another frosty one out there. We have been getting a little reprieve over the past few days with the cold temperatures, but it's still darned cold and I wish I could hit the fast forward button about two months. At least the light is getting a little stronger every day.

Today I have a few dozen of the new Titanium PryDaddy Jr's for you. These are cute little guys, more compact than the previous version. On this first group I have kept them simple and given them stamps only with a plain finish. On the next ones I will do a ruler scale and anodizing...I do have a few plain lefties as well today if anyone wishes to request them.

PryDaddy Jr tools will run $70 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for checking in, and I hope your New Year is off to a great start. :)

All gone for today, thank you so much!

Happy New Year!

Howdy Folks, and a Happy 2026 to you! I hope your holiday season was relaxing and that you got some time to kick back. Thank you so much for your loyal support for 2025, it was very much appreciated, and I'm very excited for what will be coming in this year ahead.

It was unfortunate that much of what I had planned for the pre holiday season last year was so slow to get going that much of it came back to me from heat treat either just before or right after Christmas. However, it leaves me in great shape for this winter and I now have oodles of things either finished or close to done. Some very fun stuff is coming up. :)

Today, fresh back from S&W heat treat, I have the Steel Skeletaur Tools for you. Quality steels are getting harder to source because of the shut down of Crucible, and like everything else they keep climbing in price. So these tools are made from CPM 20CV which was what was available when I cut them last summer. This new-to-me material was a little more difficult to grind and it Rockwells out at 59, so it is going to be excellent for durability. Most of the Skeletaurs are stamped but I do have a handful that are plain. There are also a half dozen lefties for anyone who wishes to email me for them.

Steel Skeletaurs will be $80 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for swinging by this week, and I hope your 2026 is getting off to a great start!

All gone for now, thank you again!
