I have to say I agree with indabayou. I already have one Big Shot, and bought another two yesterday. They are very very impressive. Pictures do not do these justice. These are hefty shot glasses. I absolutely love mine. Even my tea totaler fiance was impressed when she saw it.

I hope I come to the site at the right time one of these days. So far I always miss the link.

This is the longest sale in the history of Atwood tools ever!!
Peter correct me if I'm wrong, but I have never seen an Atwood sale last this long ever.
Wow very impressive.

Daniel said...

Glad to see these up for sale!
Grab some if you can, you will be impressed for sure

Is there any metallic after taste? I know--dumb question but seems like there could be.

Peter Atwood said...

Well I had the BigShots up for 12 hours yesterday and they will be up all day today as well. So don't yell at me if you can't catch the sale. :p

Peter Atwood said...

Wayne, the point of the passivating process after they are turned is to get rid of surface iron and sulfur which contribute to metallic tastes and smells. Do you get metal tastes from your mixing bowls at home? No, because they have been passivated.

Dorggy said...

You use phosphoric acid for your passivation - perhaps one of the chromates? I forget that steel needs this - AL is a given..

Peter Atwood said...

I can't remember what chemicals they use. These are sent to a plating company after turning and they do the processing.

Dorggy said...

Fair enough (and completely irrelevant) Very nice work all around. Kanpai!

HoopleHead said...

Put 2 BigShots side by side. Tip one to the side, then let it fall back down and hit the other. What a nice ring! :)

onceuponanace said...

WOW, link is still up :)

Looks like we should have no worries about getting this Atwood drinking tool.

Peter I remember you saying you were going to change the design on the next batch is that still happening?

Thanks

Aaron said...

I love the new knurling in your profile pic.

xarynt said...

Mine arrived--thank you! How cool are these! Kanpai!

glock18 said...

One word "WOW" these things are super cool, a true example of fine engineering,. I ordered 4 and they were shipped in a flat rate box because of the weight.

Neale said...

Mine arrived today - everything I hoped it would be. Very, Very nice.

Peter
I love the Bigshot, some of my buddies were amazed at your craftsmanship. Are you going to make a larger size? I'd love a pint size drinking glass for those of us who enjoy a brew from time to time. I would love to replace my cupboard with "Atwood china". :)

Mark

Peter Atwood said...

LOL, you know, these 2 inch diameter cups are already huge by normal CNC lathe standards. Although something larger could be turned if some investment was made in new chucks I doubt the shop that's making these for me would be up for it. Dude, a pint glass would weigh about 5 pounds and would be insanely expensive to make. Not gonna happen I'm afraid...now smaller is a different story. I'm definitely going to do a run of something different in a slightly smaller size.

lauriek said...

Love the Bigshots, and I'd certainly be interested in something a little larger, maybe a tumbler same width but twice the height? Or something like that, maybe not a 5lb pint glass though! ;D

melman8r said...

A 5lb. pint glass could kill 2 birds it one stone, a bicep workout and "happy hour" all in one sitting! :). It would be kinda cool.

Unknown said...

Love my BigShot!

I am also wondering if there are any of those tanto Imps in the work soon? On the website it states they will be standard offerings, so that's why I asked :)

deadzone6905 said...

Hey would i be able to take these to get them engraved im going to a wedding comming up they would be cool favors

Peter Atwood said...

Absolutely! I cannot do engraving but you could definitely take these to a place that does it.

simeon03 said...

Hey Peter...Can't wait to see the smaller version of the Bigshot!! Any preliminary dims? Keep up the great work...

Joel Wayne said...

Ok, I love these, but neither my wife nor I drink, so that made it a tough sell as far as she goes. Never fear! I used the first two as beautifully compact desk accessories for pens, pencils, clips etc. that will NEVER tip over. The next two I intend to put in the bathroom as perfectly sized and absolutely unbreakable rinse glasses! I (and she) despise plastic, and no more broken glass in the bathroom! Peace reigns!

Joel Wayne said...

Hmmm, Damn things might break the tiles though...:-)

DB said...

Okay Peter, you need to tell us about that new knurling in your profile pic and what it's on... ;)

Peter Atwood said...

It's a closeup of the knurl from an old Surefire flashlight. Just fooling around with my new camera. :D

Aaron said...

I have been waiting for the link to come down for a week just so I could post:

"Peter, how come nothing is ever available - why don't you post during the ______" etc.

Just to be a smart ass. In reality though thanks for making all our bigshot dreams come true!

vegassprky said...

A BigShot in every home, that is the goal! May they be used often and held with pride!! Great job Peter!!! :O

Knifeco-opJR said...

peter! scored one at blade show, VERY impressive

bltkmt said...

Would somebody please buy the rest of these? I can't afford any more and the temptation is killing me!

Matt said...

How was the Blade show?

Did anyone go?

Pictures?

Unknown said...

I know one person who didn't go. :-P

But seriously, don't you guys think Peter BELONGS at the Gathering?

Sorry, homie, I HAD to do it! :-D

onceuponanace said...

Received my BigShot yesterday and boy did I enjoy using it :)

Great weight and love having it in my hands.

Another great little design Peter thanks.

jemphd said...

I'm VERY sesnitive to metallic tastes and have held off due to this. Have any of the users noticed any metallic taste when used with liquor? Thanks

onceuponanace said...

I have not noticed any metalic taste per say in any liquid that I have drunk with. I have done milk juice and pop with no funny tastes.

One thing I will say is once cleaned and dry if you bring it up to you nose and take a smell you can smell a little iron smell (if that makes sense?)

Like a said though no taste of metal when actually drinking any fluides so far :)

Hope this helps

onceuponanace said...

I wanted to mention one more thing. If you have a liquid in the BigShot you cannot smell any metal (the smell is that minor)

Only when it is empty can you smell the metal/steel

:)

Joel Wayne said...

No metallic taste, even with water.

Inquiring minds want to know. What will we see next Mr. Atwood?
