Flat Wrunts!

Hi Folks,

Happy Friday! It's nice and cool here today, a welcome relief from the sweltering temps and high humidity of the past week. I'm looking forward to a pleasant weekend ahead as well.

Progress Update: So, due to the heat, I've been going kind of easy this past week or two and also trying to squeeze in a little vacation time here and there as well. I'll probably be doing the same throughout the rest of the summer so it may not be quite as busy as it has been in the past few months. I don't want to turn into a grumpy basement troll with a pasty complexion who blinks everytime he sees the sun! :D

However, stuff is getting done slowly but surely. I am finally close to completing a large batch of stainless steel Count Sporkulas and those should be coming along towards the end of the month. Also coming up are more dice, some solids and some drilled. As far as regular tools go I am working through the batch of flat S30v Wrunts and that's what I have done for today:

Basic flat S30v Wrunts with light raw bar finish. These are .076" thick so are a bit on the thick side for screwdriver function, however they will pop the lid off a paint can with ease. Otherwise they are identical in function to the previous Wrunts and are drilled for bead chain, a length of which is included. These are nice and light but still have a bit of heft to them and they have been well tumbled so feel good in the hand. Lots of little surface blems and imperfections as you would expect with a mild raw bar finish but still quite attractive in appearance. I could have surface ground them to make them prettier but did not want to sacrifice the thickness any more than I had to. These will be great as a wallet backup or a light neck carry piece, just thick enough to be comfortable on a keyring as well.

The Basic Flat Wrunts run $45 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for stopping in today and I hope everyone is looking forward to a wonderful summer weekend ahead!

First Wave is Sold Out, thank you so much!

Don't hate on me U just gotta hav an I phone or android or else a laptop that's always refreshing the Atwood!
Ya baby ya....

My first Atwood, and hopefully not my last!

Congrats on that John
I remember my first piece.
It was like 6 years ago.
Even bak then it was a challenge and just as difficult to score an Atwood. I do think it has become harder because of his huge following.
He's like the Guru Swami of Pocket tools. The demand is always greater than the supply.

Alright - got in there in time.
Of course, I've been refreshing like a crazy person all week.
I think I'm addicted.

Thanks Peter. This will add nicely to my collection. Enjoy the well deserved rest. But on a selfish note, don't rest too much. :D

Will there be a batch with grinds?

Josh said...

I'm with Rick, when do get the version with the pry grinds as seen on the toolbook?

Mr. A, what is the purpose of the two shallow indentations on the top of this tool?

Peter Atwood said...

The grooves on the top are thumb grooves and a design element, no other function.

I hope to do some with small grinds next week. Thanks!

Hi Peter,

Just had to share this. On returning from a wild country expedition with my students and fellow staff, we stopped at a good British Fish and Chip Shop. Wooden chip forks are the order of the day but of course I had in my wallet...

...a titanium Count Sporkula - the ultimate for 'al fresco' dining.

For years now if students need a thingumyflip gadget to repair the oojameebob on their backpack it has always been 'Colin will have one of those'.

For my fellow travellers a titanium 'chip fork' was the icing on the cake.

Very many thanks Peter.

Question Peter, is it ok to get your whistles exposed to water (salt water, beach) or if cleaning them? Could a life guard use one?

Peter Atwood said...

Absolutely, yes! I think the brass ones might tarnish some but that is part of the charm of the material. The 303 stainless ones should be fine though and the titanium are certainly fine.

Thank you for your help. The service at Planet Pocket Tool is as always impeccable.
