My computer is blowing off every 15 minutes or so. It was pretty stable for the past few weeks but now is blowing off constantly and giving me the blue screen of death...thought it might be an overheating fan issue or power supply but just not sure. Anyway, will be out shopping this morning for a new machine. Not sure if the release of SOPTHings will be today or not after all because of this delay...sorry folks.

Good luck! I hope you get a good one.
;D
Good luck!
ahhhh!!! I thought i was the first to get a stab at the new system to get something from you! LOL
well good luck on your hunt for a new computer!
Sorry to hear about the computer problems Peter. Good luck with the shopping!
Given your recent questions..perhaps you should buy a Mac?
Good luck, Peter.
Hope you get a good deal!

I feel like I've just been teased. Saw a new post and was overjoyed. Then I was depressed.
No problems, though. Get your stuff straight and release your tools when you get a chance. =-]
Can't buy a Mac, my "boss" won't allow it.... :p
Yeah, I am sorry about that folks. Not meaning to tease that's for sure.
Peter,
Recently bought a PC for my college student. I was told to avoid VISTA as an operating system if you intend to go with MicroSoft. Microsoft XP is what we ended up with and my son has had seemless operation. Best of luck!

It was good practice Peter, no worries. We'll see 'em when we do.
Owned a vista laptop for nearly a year now. Perfect integration with XP. Haven't had a single hiccup...I'd recommend it.
My wife just bought me a I-Mac for my birthday. They are very cool!!!
I would second the XP (tried and true) os over Vista (critical system update crashes).
OR buy a mac book pro and run parallels with XP
Idea:
A whole damascus line of boogers each one numbered you can buy any overpriced mac you want.
Mike
Mac is OK but I like PC better. Vista premium is better than the regular. It'll be fine. Yea team!
I feel your pain... My old PC quit last year... Replaced it with a brand new "shiny" model... The new one worked great for about a month and then Phhffffttt... the motherboard "gave up the ghost"... No two ways about it, it's a hassle... Hope your experience is painless... Good Luck!
Try reseating the ram and all the other cards. It sounds like something is loose.
Peter,
Good luck with the computer hunt. If I may so humbly say, look into a "Hackintosh." It runs like a Mac on the inside but looks like a PC on the outside. Plus you can dual boot! But I know you can think for yourself. :)
Don't feel too bad Peter, my hunk of trash HP is suffering too. If I leave it on too long it's like going to a Floyd show while listening to my "boss" follow me with the dustbuster. Tried a reinstall but it's properly.... well you get the idea. I'm getting a Mac though, Vista is completely shitty.
Will keep an eye out and an ear to the ground. Enjoy your weekend.
Regards.
I just got 2 new dells set up this past weekend....Amazingly it all went well. GOOD LUCK!
Yeah I went with a Dell. Will be setting it up tonight and tomorrow. What a pain in the butt....
Peter,
Good luck with the set up; I can commiserate (in a very ironic way); my Mac acted up and though there was not need to get new one, I got hacked (initially my website and then access via that to my Mac); so I have to rebuild from scratch. Good luck again and hopefully it won't take you the 1.5 weeks it took me (2 days for the Mac, rest of the time for the website as I had to get the DB contents by extracting them (as I wasn't sure whether it had been compromised)).
It's great that you have your wife's help. I seam to remember you saying she worked for IBM at one point.
Any word on a new release date for the sopt?
dual boot is a good option. A buddy has been running a dual boot machine for the past 7-8 months and loves it. Best of both worlds for MAC and PC.
He uses the MAC for "final cut" editing. He can access the Microsoft files when he needs to for work....
best wishes
john
Peter, who's the boss that won't let you get a Mac?
Hehe, "the Boss"? Don't you have one in your house? :D
Listen, she's been involved with computer stuff since 1980 so I keep my mouth shut and let her take care of keeping my machine going and doing all the site maintenance. Also, she wrote the software from scratch that lets me do my site updates and creates the pages. She's one smart lady and I can't thank her enough for all that she has done for my business.
Hehe..Peter- you are one smart man! (take note guys- always thank "the boss"...for she may one day surprise you with an Atwood...if you're lucky). ;) Good luck with the computer, Peter.
for every successful man, there is the boss behind him...
my boss is monitoring my monitoring in here...LOL
Fear of switching is the foundation of customer loyalty for PCs.
My first (and favorite) Atwood came from "the boss"!! :-D
