RingThings!

These are similar to the SharkTooth knife that I did this past spring. Also closely related to the RingLeader tool. The full specs are in the description on my site, link is below:

First wave is SOLD OUT. Thanks very much folks and all will be shipping tomorrow. BTW, I'd be interested to hear in the comments section on this thread or by email from anyone who did not receive a shipping confirmation from Paypal when I created the shipping label. It seems sometimes they don't send a confirmation out but they are supposed to...

Coulda got lucky. Just checking the web before heading to work and what should pop up.

Gotta pass though, saving myself for Boogers and MSOPTs

Good luck to everyone else.

PS: Thanks to whoever recommended "pingie" it works a treat.

very interesting tool.

Is the "bottle opener" the ring itself, or that part between the blade and the bit?

That part almost looks like it can be used to open cans.

look forward to more releases and hopefully more SOPT. :)

thanks.

Nice! Been waiting for these to finally come out! I love my SharkTooth, but see the ring being a better option for myself for neck carry.

BTW, any idea when you might have some Boogers ready? Would love to finally have one of those too!

Peter,

Always amazes me how you fit so much function into such small packages. Keep up the awesome work.

Just this morning my I had to cancel my credit card because of some suspicious activity. Here I am with the tool I was waiting for with them currently available and I am waiting for a new card in the mail. I even passed on the sharktooth because it mentioned the future ring version when I could of bought one. Well its alright he said there would be more. It looks fantastic.

Just got my notice via SendMeRSS. Looks like Pingie might be a bit faster, though...

I've gotta agree with thartley. Getting ring thing would be great, but i have to budget myself and wait for sopt.

I mentioned Pingie, but not sure if I would get credit for it. (who knows/cares...lol) Pingie rang my bell and I got here prior to the first comment, so I must say it definitely works!! Plus, you can edit your list of blog alerts.

Also passing, as I have had my eye on a couple other items. =-]

Didn't seem right to see "Buy Now" and not act on it... I bought one even though I'm impatiently waiting for sopt, msopt, and boogers...

Kinda miss the "In Stock" moniker... New system seems to be working pretty good...

What address are you using for Pingie? It keeps telling me it is an invalid address.

I must admit these tools are truly fine craftmanship, But this method of selling just set ecommerce back 10 years.

With all these web hits sales must be through the roof or could be. I would think there would be enough for a decent managed storefront , leaving more time to produce product and make profit.

After all your hard work collecting the cash should be the easy part.

But what do I know I still wait for the single cashier at Walmart.

Mark, you need to use the RSS feed address. On the right hand side of the blog:

No SMS for me here in AU, but the email alert works great.

Good luck.

Well, I guess I'm getting cocky. I have ONE Atwood tool and passed on this--waiting on something more "exotic" I guess. Wait? On this site--has to be a rarity. Charge!

Just checked my email, Peter. No shipping confirmation for me. Just a PayPal receipt email.

FYI Gerber Artifact Minitool; http://thegoat.backcountry.com/blog/2008/09/16/gerber-artifact-minitool/ ;Thought you might be interested in this

Italian time zone prevented me from getting one :/

Well... I'll be waiting for future waves of tools :)

Re the Gerber Artifact, its not even a red headed step child of an Atwood tool (no offense to red headed step children), and I don't even own one of Peter's fine pieces of functional art yet.

To all those who would complain about Peter's methods, don't. If he started to operate like a big time manufacturer, you would end up with the Artifact instead of {fill in the blank with the Atwood tool of your choice).

I bought one out of curiosity this weekend, and needless to say I am thoroughly disappointed. The residual pitting from the casting process is atrocious as the integral phillips head screwdriver.

Although I didn't get in on the release of RingThings (argh!), in lucky past purchases, I've always received the notices of shipping from PayPal.

Glad the "new" notification system seems to be working.

Many of you may know and many may not--to extend the life of the o-rings--occasionally put pure silicone grease (not the spray can silicone) on them. You can easily pick this up at dive shops (the underwater kind). A small container is only a few bucks.

DB said...

Disregard my last post, Peter. I received a shipping notice at 7:02am this morning. Just jumped the gun I guess....hehe.

While I agree with the silicone treatment, I would also like to point out that putting silicone grease on O-ring might reduce the friction/grip. With that being said, if you're gripping the knife with a finger inside the ring, it should be fine.

Unknown said...

waykno - good tip on the silicone grease. I've already broken a couple o-rings on my Nibble, and just got a 50x more grease than I could ever use at Menards (their smallest quantity) to lube my new flashlight (NiteCore PD) - now I'll have an additional use for my lifetime supply.

Peter

If you do another wave of RingThings, will you be updating the blog page to reflect that, or will we have to keep going through the present link to see if they are back in stock. Thanks - Rick

Finally, an Atwood edged tool will be mine!

Although I think the name "RingThing" lacks a certain something befitting a bladed tool- may I suggest "RingTooth"? Or "SharkThing"?

Just kidding- I can't wait for my Ring Thing!

OK, this is for the "whiners." I've only been aware of this site for about one month. I've already scored one item and passed on two others. It "ain't" that hard--operative word here is perseverance. And if your life is so busy you just can't get to this site--then, God bless you.
