The Pest!

Hi Folks,

OK, things are moving right along here...I've been a grinding, stamping and tumbling fool these past few days and I managed to get a good sized batch of these new tools finished. This is The Pest. It's a simple pry tool/screwdriver with bottle opener, similar to the Chiggers that I made last year but larger. These are 3 inches long and made of 5/32" thick titanium with a stonewashed finish. Thanks to the large openings they weigh almost nothing yet are still extremely robust. I love this kind of design, simple and elegant.

Anyway, this first wave is plain stonewashed with no anodizing. I have more to finish up in the coming days and will do some anodized ones next but these are just plain. They are $65 plus shipping and the link is below. Thanks for your patience everyone!

Sold out for now, more on the way very soon, thank you so much!

Got one! Thanks Peter, I really like the minimalist styling. I guess this will have to go into rotation with my Larva.

Woohoo my geeky way of checking for site changes finally worked. I'd explain it but it's such a kluge but for those curious I wget the whole page and then do a diff on it for changes, gets a lot of false positives since whenever someone adds a comment that throws it off.

Was waiting for the G5 but I'll get this. And then I use my cell phone for a second auth on paypal and that was having issues, gah.

Hey Peter, is that the tumbling media you photographed them on? Is it ceramic or stone? These look cool. I'll hold out for an anodized one I think...maybe UV? Could be a mistake to pass these up though!

Very nice tool! I love titanium tools.

I had to restrain myself though. I couldn't justify it because it would fill the same purpose as my poltergeist.

Man why wife is going to kill me but oh well! Nice simple design, glad I checked when I did!!! Gary :>)

Beauty!! Just what i needed. Would you believe the wrench on my mini poltergeist is a no-no through airport security and I need to check it into my luggage...

Got it! Yeah my timing is finally beginning to turn around these days.

@Xi

No, mines some kludge of a system I put together in like 10 minutes. Gives me a lot of false positives so I check the email going "oh great another false positive" and saw that there was actually new content :)

Oh, these are gorgeous!

Gonna hold out for an anodized one though - it's not payday yet :(

Wow, some of you are so disciplined! I would love an anodized one, too, bit since I can't be sure of getting one, I had to bite!

Finally get the opportunity for another atwood, and just like Jacob, it's too close to the poltergeist I already have to justify..
Perhaps the anno'd ones will force me to pull the trigger :-)

Booyeah! Finally got one! I've been checking PPT twice a day for years to get an Atwood for my keyring. Now I've got one to go along with my badass Atwood shot glass. Thanks, Peter. // y

I got one! Hope my luck keeps up (getting a stamped G5 prybaby and the pest!) Love it so much I wanna buy 2. Wish I had an excuse.

Looks beautiful, but it is similar enough to the first tool I was able to score that I'm going to let someone else try in the hopes that anoter newby gets the same thrill I did when the package arrives. Will hope for a new run of the Prybaby or Brewdriver...

Good luck to everyone!

Joy! Scored more Atwood!

I could *wait* for something anodized or whatever but I've lost out too many times doing that.

Trading is kosher, eBay speculating ain't. So, I'll build up tradable goodies so I can end up with a variety of goodies! I do daily EDC rotations (lights, knives, tools, trit markers, lanyards, etc) and 'one of each' lends itself nicely to that behavior!

One to keep, one to trade (Ano Ti Poltergeist anyone? Or Stamped G5 Prybaby? Please?)

Thanks Peter, you're part of making every day unique and delightful!

@vrillusions Consider parsing the RSS feed instead and parsing out the last update timestamp. I've got a simple python file that does it, feel free to use that:

The collection has begun.....my rent payment is now in constant jeopardy.

Sweet, first Atwood tool, I managed to get a Tippler, which is awesome, but this is what I really wanted. Might stop checking the site obsessively for a couple of days at least....

Peter, it's a nice looking tool, but I'm curious why you went back to the rounded bottle opener vs. the hex style. I have to admit that I rarely use the hex-shaped bottle openers to turn anything hex-shaped, but I thought you were throwing that extra bit of functionality in your newer designs.

hard to let a tool slip by, glad some others got their first tools! it's a nice design too, might have to spring for a blue ano if i can catch a link ;)

Any chance for some steel ones? Love the design!

@vrillusions and Jordan: I've been using a simple script that cURL's this blog once per minute and parses out the title of the first post, then diff's it against a text file containing the name of the "last first post". If there's difference, I have the server send an email to my Pushmail account with the title of the post (so I know immediately if I want it) then update the text file. If you don't know about the Pushmail app available for iPhone/Android and you do this kind of thing, prepare to have your world rocked with push notification goodness ;-). I've been using this method for I think two years now and have caught virtually every sale.

Very cool, I missed it this time, maybe I will get lucky with the next batch.

Non-stop cool designs. Another tool I really like.

@egep Speaking of trading, I am still looking for a bronze whistle, got the steel, Ti, and brass, feel incomplete without the bronze. Although I still feel lucky to have gotten the ones I did get.

I share Steve's curiosity about the photo background. What is that stuff?

Peter Atwood said...

Thanks again everyone! I'm still packing these up...

The background in the photo is fine ceramic polishing media. This is "worn out" stuff that came from Smith and Wesson originally... I'm going to try it out in my new Burr King tumbler at some point. Currently I'm experimenting with a coarser ceramic stone media for more aggressive stock removal and texturing.

Sorry to everyone who might get a site update alert from this post :) but had to comment on how much I am loving my pry-baby from the last batch. This thing has quickly become my favorite carry. Thanks for the awesome stuff Peter, and congrats to those who got in on a brand new tool!

Wombat said...

Wow! Ordered it on the 10th, got on the 13th. The Pest is awesome! It's on my key ring right now and will probably outlast my truck. Thanks. // y

$125

Some dude in Coral Gables FL.

BAN him!

I mean after the ebay post and he still has the nerve to post one on ebay right after receiving it.

I mean at least wait a month before trying to resell it.

he is also an atwood seller. Here is a landslide that he sold.

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Peter-Atwood-Landslide-Titanium-Ribbed-Lanyard-NIB-/110699439169#ht_500wt_998

same seller (BLURBIKE) this time Miami, FL

only 8 days after landslide sale.

CW said...

Agreed. Guys a prick. Not just the blog, but the faq's on planet Pocketool make it clear Peter does not care if you resell a month down the road. If the creator doesn't care no one else should, but 3 days after the sale ends is disrespectful...someone slap that guy!
