Swordbaby

Howdy Folks! Hope your weekend has been a relaxing one. I've been working for some of it and kicking back for the rest of the time.

I have a few titanium G3 Prybabies available. I marked these with one of my 19th century antique die maker's stamps in the shape of a sword hilt with D guard. I only made two dozen and they are all anodized green. They are $75 each plus shipping and I'm keeping it at one per customer because of the limited stock. Purchase link is here:

Sold Out, thank you!

Wow... that was quick. I just checked the blog a little while ago! I really like that stamp too.

Can you tell us what kind of stamps you have? So far I have seen the bug, skull and now the sword hilt. Were these stamps used as a maker's mark? Were they used in the USA or abroad?

Also, what to you have in store for us next?

Thanks......Dave

Peter could you tell us anything about the amount of metric tools coming up? (especially the wingnuts!!) And what wrench sizes they're gonna include?

Peter Atwood said...

Ward,

The metric WingNuts have been drawn and the design is finalized but they have not been cut yet. So they are at least a month away and probably longer. They will have every metric size from 5mm to 15mm with the odd numbers in the body opening and the even numbers in the jaws. Might be reversed, I can't remember now...anyway, I used 2mm increments in the step sizes for aesthetic reasons even though some of the sizes contained in the steps are either not often used or do not exist. Why the metric system doesn't have evenly spaced size increments is a mystery to me but it is what it is. :)

What's next? Paperwork and quarterly taxes. ;) After I recover from that ordeal hopefully the Mini Prybabies will be back from heat treat.

Sounds great Peter, thanks!

Poo! Missed another Atwood ... beginning to take this personally lol!

Missed again. I am not going to sleep for the next several weeks.

Dang, missed that batch, will have to remain more alert. Hope the boat is in for the next batch... the missionaries (our "pet" name for mission tech's) tend to drop the net as soon as they step off the ship, leaving us crew types out of contact for the duration. They looked very nice, good luck on dem tax's ;)

D'oh!

I've been following this blog for quite some time now hoping to get my hands on anything, but alas, as I'm in a different time zone, by the time I even saw this post, they were all gone.

What I'd really like is any of these tools, but with metric sized fittings - is there anything like that on the horizon?

Peter Atwood said...

Yes, I have several dozen Funnybone wrench tools in steel currently at the heat treat company. These have a metric side and an SAE side. For an all metric tool there is the upcoming Metric WingNut but it will be probably be middle of October before those are ready.

...really, on labor day, like the 1 day I take off and don't play around on the computer. Thanks Peter.

Grabbed another one, now all I need to do is figure out how to carry all these great Atwoods ;)

Thanks for feeding the addiction Peter.

Look forward to seeing what else you come out with.

It would be nice if the people who already owned one of these would control themselves and let some other people have a chance to buy one.

Not that I had any chance at all since I didn't see this post until now.

Looking forward to whatever's next.

Can't believe I missed another one, on literally the one day I didn't go online to check this blog! Is there any way to get push-notified of when new posts are made?

Mr. Atwood, any plans for holding a do-it-with-you class? Not having any metal working skills at all, I would love to see a master at work!

stnphoto: You're free to check the blog page like the rest of us do.

I've read that those that rely on RSS alerts have been left Atwood-less many, MANY times so go ahead and try to use those if you want. Leaves more for the rest of us that check the page ourselves instead of being lazy.

How do you pronounce fixalWAQ3foNceEYkfYSleEoyc_CApyN?

Noonan for Selectman: said...

fixalWAQ3foNceEYkfYSleEoyc_CApyN, who exactly is lazy? Are you referring to me?

I suppose if I don't refresh this page every two minutes trollers like you will just buy every available item under different user names and put them up for sale on ebay rather than use them. If that makes me lazy, so be it; I'd much rather the artist and creator profit from his work rather than you "go getters".

Now, now. Play nice, kiddies. :-)

Peter I really like your use of the antique stamp! Do you happen to have any more stamps that we might see in the future?

cant we all just get along...;)

I have a lot of image stamps but only a small number are suitable for my work. Some of them are just too big, some don't make distinct impressions and some are just not a good fit with my stuff. I also am being really careful with a lot of them because they cost me a fortune and I'm scared of ruining them if they aren't heat treated properly. Of course I have no idea whether they are going to be durable over the long run. Some of them might fall apart or split in half if they are struck too hard or I might ruin the images by using them on material that is too hard.

As I use them more and learn what works well we will be seeing more of them. Right now I think I have about 50 different usable stamps.
