Power Outage

We had a severe storm on wednesday which has knocked out power to the whole area. We hope to have power back by sunday but no guarantees.

I erased all my email accidentally so if you sent me email in the past two days please resend. Thanks!

Hope everyone and everything is OK Peter.

Holy crap, 5 days without power? Is that normal in your area? The longest power outage I've experienced where I live currently is about 6 hours.

Sorry to hear about that, Peter. gAt least it's not the dead of winter or the middle of summer.

Just got the juice back a few minutes ago. Thanks everyone!

Our area was really hard hit. Crews from all over New England are here and in the neighboring towns working around the clock. Trees are literally all over the place and laying on power lines, crashed into a bunch of houses too. We had no damage at all and the whole thing really just turned into camping at home for a few days. Not bad. :)

It always makes me wonder. We have outages here frequently in the Pacific NW. They always go on the news to say they have 93 crews working around the clock. Why don't those crews spend the rest of the year putting the stuff underground? What're they doing? Playing cards?

Under ground cost a lot more $ to the taxpayers and they dont want to pay for it . I for one would love to see everything go underground that would keep me working till i retire. Peter if you needed a break you diddnt have to go through all that trouble you could have just turned the computer off.

Glad to hear the power is back on!! Hope it did'nt get too hot or all your food spoiled!! And yes it would be smart to put the lines underground but then what would the linemen do?lol So Peter and everyone else have a nice holiday weekend!!!! Gary :>)

Peter....glad to hear nothing catastrophic happened.

Joel......maybe a wire got crossed during the power outage but I'm sure that email was destined for me.

Underground lines are FAR more unreliable than overhead lines. They are the money makers for us lineman. And most of the time, we aren't out "playing cards", but repairing the 50+ year old crap that powers all our precious gadgets, with the help of Peter's tools of course ;)

It sounds pretty bad, but I'm glad to hear that your house wasn't directly hit with the trees. But still, it must be inconvenient having to go through with it. Hope you can catch up with some much needed rest. All the best to you Peter.

Sorry to hear that, our power on Guam gets cut whenever the wind blows too hard in some spots.

It's almost never from a brown tree snake incident these days, just weather winning hands down.

I remember seeing a writeup about your site on Engadet i think years ago, i'm glad i tripped back onto it. Back then i think you'd outright sell items, i'm gonna try and bid via blogpost and see how it goes!
