I wish you would put some of these new items on auction rather than open sale so it would give some of us that actually work during these hours a chance at them!!
Via the lottery yes. I have to make another count and see what is left. Unfortunately 1/4 of this batch was lost to a processing error (my own darned fault) and are unsaleable. So I did not end up with anywhere near the number that I originally thought I would have.
I am trying to get the rulers done for this weekend or early next week. Also, a large batch of BigShots will be coming for a general release sale probably on Wednesday.
Hey Peter, just out of curiosity...when you put up a general sale, like today, roughly how long do they last before you sell out? I know it depends on the quantity, but just a rough idea. Are we talking minutes or hours?
If someone is interested in that one on Ebay. . . Paul is a great guy!! He is not out to rip anyone off. If you miss your chance here, I would jump on it. :)
Peter's sales always state that purchase for immediate resale is prohibited. I'm not sure how this doesn't qualify as such, and wondering just how "great" of a guy your friend is to ignore Peter's express wishes... These 1st went on sale, what, on Tuesday?
You have apoint, but I believe that Peter is more concerned with the habitual resellers. Buying an Atwood tool is really the only way to getone in your hands and check it out. Sometimes, the tool might not be for you, so what are your options? I suppose you could return it to Peter for a refund. Or, you can sell it on the secondary market and hopefully not be out the shipping. I haven't seen any other Atwoods being sold on Ebay by Paul, so I don't think this is a case of buy low and sell high to make a fast buck. This is reaffirmed by the fact that it is a no reserve auction with a starting below Peter's price. Not everyone can buy from Peter directly. If only all e-bay auctions for Peter's tools were run the way this one is.
If you want to know Peter's position on Ebay you need only read back through the blog. Ben is right on the money. The Ebay thing has been a sore subject in the past so I would leave it alone. Also, if Phoenix Stu says he is a good guy that is probably the case.
Eliot Please do not quote me about what is on Peter's site. I know what Peter's stand is on the ebay policy!! Also, some things are just not what people expected when they get it. Ever thought about that?? Plus, Paul is not out to make a buck. If you will notice there is no buy now price. What ever the bidding goes to then it goes to but Paul is definitely not out to take your money.
Please take the time to understand a little about who you are posting about and what you are posting about before posting! Thank you
If the product doesn't fit a buyer's need or expectations, why not just post a comment here on the blog offering it for sale? A sale between Atwood collectors should not be too difficult through an email.
Yeah, so if the guy really was only wanting to recover the cost + shipping instead of just turning a fast profit, he would've posted it for what he paid + enough to cover shipping to him and shipping to the next person.
Leaving it an auction with no buy-it-now = greed. Simple. And I don't care if I know the guy personally or not. I am basing this on the above...his actions.
I think the re-selling is just what happens. It may be irritating to want to buy tools that someone else buys and immediately re-sells...but there is simply no way to stop it and policing this stuff is just a fools errand. As a note...the nice ebay guy also seems to dislike his shiner.
I just buy what I can and try not to stress too much. Another note, Moore Cutlery regularly has stuff - as of today, AM: crawdady, sharktool, ringthing, nibble, Ti gasbaby, and tiki atwrench. That is a bunch of stuff. I have also bought stuff from Moore that Peter did not directly release...so check there and let the folks who live to post here do their thing. After all, do you want a useful, well made tool or do you want to be a "regular" on a blog comment section?
I am here for edc tools...try Moore, they are almost as fast as Peter himself and just as nice.

Peter, Got the Fixer in the mail today, just in time for me to take it to North Carolina to do some trout fishing.Just wanted to say thanks for another cool tool.
I saw that Fixer on ebay Sunday too. It's too bad. He obviously got it knowing he was going to sell while demand is high, to make a buck. I'm sure Peter knows who it is, and maybe won't sell to him in the future. I agree that you can get a tool and then change your mind, but the timing on that all was just too quick IMHO. Kind of like the person a month back that sold a Big Shot on ebay immediately claiming that he thought it was going to be a flask.
Having only seen the pictures that peter posted (which only show one side), I assumed it was chisel ground. If it's v-ground, then I am even more stoked for mine to arrive!
Peter, I haven't looked forward to getting one of your tools this much since the Sharktooth!
Ben, I think a chisel ground blade would be flat right to the cutting edge on one side, the Fixer is certainly sharpened on both sides. I do see what you are saying though, the main grind is only on one side. Apologies for any confusion.
What is for certain though is it's a lovely little cutting tool...
That is correct. I do a Kiridaschi style chisel grind on these type of little knives but I choose to put the bezel on the front side. This is opposite of what the purists want in a right handed tool but IMO it does not matter in the least particularly in the very small cutting tools that I make. Purists also prefer the cutting edge to be ground on the same side as the bevel and on one side only. That would be a "proper chisel grind" just as you would see on a woodworker's chisel.
The reason the blade purists want this is so that a right handed person will experience less of a veering action as the blade cuts through something. If the bevel is on the front side then they argue that the blade will tend to veer towards the user instead of away.
With a small blade like this it is my opinion that none of this matters. Also, I think it is harder for the average user to keep a blade sharpened properly if the cutting edge is on one side only. In my experience by sharpening both sides of the cutting edge I am making it easier for the average person to sharpen by hand. Also, if you cock the blade slightly you will have the exact same angle as if the blade had been V ground. Therefore, the blade cuts as straight as any and is easier to maintain.

Hahah too bad I blew all my money on audio equipment this month... I'm happy with my RingThing though.
Thank you Peter! I'm glad I had the day off today! :)

Johhny on the spot.Thanks Peter
My first Atwood. Thank you!
WOOHOO !!! These little babies are the heat.
Hi Peter,
I wish you would put some of these new items on auction rather than open sale so it would give some of us that actually work during these hours a chance at them!!
Yes indeed, I do have more of these that I still have to make sheaths for and those I will put up via the lottery system.
will we get another chance to snag one of these Peter?

Might you have an update on the timing of the next wave of rulers Peter? Thanks! --Shay

What a beautiful spring day to drop a Fixer in my pocket! Came in last nights mail - what a cool tool! I am all jazzed up for this one.
-Peace
Peter
Make some available b4 work hours please.
What are the chances of kelpie making production?
Missed it again. I can't wait for the lottery. I got to get one of these!
What's wrong with the unsellable fixers?

John, it depends on what it is. Sometimes it's an hour or two. This last wave of Fixers lasted 10 minutes.

Peter,
Congrats on the success of the Fixer. Was there any doubt? ;P
I think they turned out really good. No funds at the moment to get my "Fix."
Just out of curiosity, will there be any changes to the rulers that are coming up? Will they be blasted like the first batch?

I agree.
Hi Peter I have Blogged in a while keep up the great work.
Guys, Don't worry about it. It isnt your problem and Mr. Atwood can handle it however he wants to (If he even wants to bother with it).
Peter,
Got the Fixer in the mail today, just in time for me to take it to North Carolina to do some trout fishing.Just wanted to say thanks for another cool tool.
Thanks Peter. I am amazed at how quickly you got this in the mail... I really didn't expect to have this in my hands so soon!

Enough of this Ebay blah blah blah...lets get back on point!.....Peter the Fixer Rocks! Keep up the great work my friend!
Sublime! Any chance to purchase an additional sheath?
codec,
Are the fixers not chisel ground?

Yep the Fixers rock!
Ben the blade is ground on both sides.
Thanks Lauriek
I am so psyched! I was disappointed today when the mailman brought only bills. Maybe tomorrow...
Lauriek,
I got my fix today!
correct me if I'm wrong, but it sure looks chisel ground to me. Sharpened on both sides, yes, but ground only on the one side.
