I'm thinking about revisiting my BugBite design but doing them in steel and adding a bottle opener. I've been toting this proto on my own keychain for a month now and I really like it. I upgraded the O-rings to a beefier size which gives the tool a better feel and the length is slightly longer to fit the bottle opener in there. A nice way to carry a tool bit in an ultra small package. Whaddya think, should I do a run?

I really like to overall design of it. The tip looks really nice and the bigger o-rings look for a sturdier feel.
I like it.
Increased size and functionality - I like it :-)
I like it. Reminds me of the bottlebug a little. Yes, definitely make 'em. I'll buy one...
yes yes yes
yes yes yes
Please produce hundreds, I want one.
very cool! I would say yeah but do them in Ti!
Totally, although perhaps a TOUCH longer design?
BTW, fully support the beefier oRings -- all three on my Crawdaddy have snapped off, already. Could you please repost where you find those/where I might find replacements?
Thanks, Peter!
I really like it. I think it would have broad appeal.
Peter
I have a Gen 1 Ti Bugbite and I use it frequently. It is always on my keychain, flies internationally without incident, and is always ready for fastener tightening or removal. It also has scratches at the tip where I have pried open an ale or two. For this reason I think the Gen 2 is brilliant. That said, I am always torn between your aesthetically gorgeous grinds and finish on steel and the near weightlessness of Ti. The steel is killer to admire but adds to key weight and the Ti is almost unnoticeable making for very easy EDC. In any case I heartily endorse a run of these beauties.
Peter, how do you sleep at night ? I can imagine you looking at the ceiling ALL night long thinking of what to make next in the shop. You are unbelievable in your designs and tools. Keep up the GREAT work. I sure wish I lived next door to you and could get a peek at what is in the inception stage on the CAD s/w and workbench prototypes. Guess this answers the question !
Thanks guys, I'll probably do some, maybe a few in ti as well. I have a closely related tool, the Shiner, that I'm doing a small run of as well and those will be coming on in a few weeks.
LOL, I live in a world of dreams. :p
I love the size the most ... screwdriver pry with a bottle opener, you had me at hello.
Ryan
Peter,
I have carried my bugbite for about a year or more and have found it very helpful. I so yes!!!
Barry G.
Definitely do a run of these! When I heard mention of the SBug on the forums I was really excited. I have always liked the Bugbites and these 2nd gen changes makes this one perfect. I like the single hole that will balance it on a key ring rather than the two holes for neck carry and I like the addition of the bottle opener. Also, the finish on that steel is awesome. Ti never seems to have the clean lines that steel has and probably won't have the glassy feel of this new finish. Don't get me wrong though a Ti version would be nice too. :)
I say go for it! Those looks mighty nifty, and I need an Atwood already!!
peter..what is the whole in the front near the prybar for?
John, it could be for a lanyard but it's main purpose is to form the creature's eye. You gotta have an eye when you have a gaping mouth. ;)
Yes. Yes you should. A lot. :D
That is probably the one thing that keeps me from carrying my bugbite more; needs a bottle opener. Of all the tools I rotate for carry, the ones that get the most use incorporate a bottle opener. :)
We all know what db is going to do with the hole. Fill it with another trit tube. I will be following his example provided I can get a hold of one.
Make a bunch Peter.
Please make some, those look great!
Love it. I'm a frequent flyer, and prefer my keychain tools without a blade so I can pass through security.
Usually I wouldn't buy anything with the captive bit series because I don't want to have rubber on my keychain but I must say if you made these in titanium I would buy one.
Very cool Peter.I'll take one if I am lucky enough to get it.Being a Titanaholic of course I would like to see some in Titan. Thanks Peter.
GO STEELERS! Marc.
Awesome work. Definitely make a batch. I'll try to be first in line.
Peter, it looks amazing! Can you include the micro screw tip on the opposite end to the bottle opner - it looks like there isn't one?
If the functionality is only half as good as the looks it will still be a winner. It looks clean, simple and just the sort of thing I would want to carry.
Look forward to seeing them soon?
Bottle opener, yeah baby.
Go Steelers!
Now that's a Happy Bug! It seems to be the perfect fit and size. Can't wait to get one....please make alot!
peter - what are you opening beers with this super sunday?
I dig it. Kind of like the nibble, but it looks even cooler
Super Sunday SuperBug! Gotta be Ti....
You know, that is a good question. I was just about to get around to cracking one today...I have Rodenbach in the corked bomber bottle or I could have a Pilsener Urquell, an Old Jock Wee Heavy, a Hacker-Pschorr Octoberfest, a St. Peters Cream Stout or an Anderson Valley Oatmeal Stout.
Decisions decisions, probably go for the St. Peters though since it's just about my favorite these days. Everything they make is delicious and the bottles are just over a pint.
I probably will go with my G4 Prybaby that I usually carry in the evening. I tied one of Brian's Tootsie Roll lanyards on it.
@DB you just like it for the little unexplained hole that you can put a trit tube in there ;)
Peter, this is good and would make it more usable, my blue bug bite is my most unused tool. My most used is Ti gasbaby believe it or not, and then my G4 pry for its sheer heft. Pound for pound my fav Atwood tool.
Most definitely!
Peter,
I have been waiting my whole life for such a tool. When I was a kid I would drill a whole in the back of a small screwdriver then place an eyescrew in the back and attach it to my keychain. Please produce. I will be on the lookout.
Thanks,
I say do a run...perfect keychain tool!
Love it!!! Make it!!!
BOY HOWDY! I want one
You should call that the SnakeBite.
An awesome prototype hopefully I'll be lucky enough to get one !!!
It is a really fantastic design. That's one I'm gonna have to try for. A bottle opener is a must-have on every tool I use.
I like it. Would love to start the Adwood addiction with one of those. :-D
........if you need a volunteer to further road test the one on you keyring, I am your man!!
Well you've got to try, haven't you?
You know Peter, you could make a lollipop in the shape of a tool and we would buy it. THAT is how much we love your work!!! :)
What is that tiny little carabiner on the Ladybug? Is that a retail piece, or a one-off from Atwood R&D?
I've just recently been made aware of Atwood tools (so that's the Prybaby that everyone EDCs...), and already I find myself looking forward to the next batch of goodies.
The mini clips are available from Berkeley Point and are the finest made. They are very very well known in the EDC community. Wonderful clips, in different sizes too, buy a dozen.
One of those 2 holes should be an O2 wrench! ;)
Peter the more I think about this one, there is not a big difference between this and the Nibble, maybe even less functionality. Just my 2 cents.
It looks like it would go well with Alaska Brewings Oatmeal Stout (but I am biased being from Juneau). Airplane travel considerations are great -- make lots so I can purchase one. I always lose on lotteries.
Yes, please!!! I have been bugging you about Bottlebugs for ages, and this would quench my thirst (for now)!
Those are great, Peter!
Yes, please do a run.
I think that this tool would be very functional and useful for a bunch of different things
"I'll Take It"
If I'm lucky enough to buy one.
Sweet little tool.
If I can't find someone to sell me a bottle bug, I've GOT to have one of these. Very cool.
They went to tumbling on Tuesday so will be about two weeks until they are done. I have a lot of these coming.
Strictly dreaming here...No basis in reality what so ever...but a Damasteel Superbug would be incredible.
Counting down the minutes until I Can get one of these. Then I will be truly happy... Until the titanium Super Bugs come out :)
5 year followup - carry daily, use several times/ week, bulletproof, ie still have the original o-rings Best keychain EDC tool ever, IMHO
