Update

Howdy folks. Hope everyone had an enjoyable, stress free and safe holiday season!

I'm still taking it easy and catching up on paperwork and some odds and ends. Things will be very slow for the next week or two while I take care of some stuff and order new sheets of steel, etc. It takes awhile to gear back up after a big push like I made before the Christmas week.

RingTools will not be ready for a little while yet. I got them last week from tumbling but they need more grinding and a retumble before I can do the final anodizing, etc. So figure two weeks for them. There is only one hole size for now and it is .838" or 21.2mm. This size will fit medium and average size fingers but probably not the giant mitts of 250 lb guys. I'll be making a second slightly larger size later on this winter. I'm not going to get into a whole bunch of sizes on these because it's a nightmare. They are what they are. The first batch is made of hefty 3/16" thick titanium stock and although I have not yet figured out the final cost I think the price will be reasonable.

Ti Rulers are also on deck with the RingTools but I still have a bunch of work to do on them. Hopefully I will get to the ti stuff later this week and get it moving along in the process again.

I will be having more lotteries in mid January. I have some more knives to finish and right after I do the prep work on the ti stuff I will get back into sheath mode.

That's about it for now. Happy Football Playoffs! ;)

Dang, bad news on the ring tools. Oh well, can't wait to get one of those on my fingers as well as having an Atwood ruler.

How wide will the rulers be Peter?

Happy New Year.

Ryan, not sure yet how much they will cost, still figuring out how much they are costing me to make.

Rulers are 3 inches long with American scale on top, metric scale along the bottom and they are about 3/4" wide, .090 thick titanium.

great news Peter! Hope your new years went well.

I was wondering how fine the scale will be on the Ti rulers?

Thanks,

Todd

any clue as to the price of the rulers? Ballpark?

Looking forward to seeing the finished product, but take your time, don't work too hard :)

I'm just not sure yet about pricing on either item. Probably $30-50 depending on finishes.

Thanks for the updates, Peter!

Good luck over the next couple weeks.

I'm wondering about the ring tools on 240 lb person :), would give me incentive to loose weight I guess.

Nice to know not much coming up this week - I'm traveling in Canada without ready access to internet.

Peter,

I might have missed this; but will the Ti Ruler be dual measures (ie. Metric and Imperial)?

Cheers,

Anthony

Wow, busy guy! I'll bet you hear the sound of a bumblebee's wings if you stand real close to Peter. :-D

Rings went out today for retumbling.

I also took one down to my local jeweler at lunchtime and had it sized. This batch is officially size 12 so will fit most average sized fingers for sure. People with smaller fingers can wrap some cord or tape around the bottom if they want. On my own small fingers it fits the middle finger loosely and the thumb perfectly.

Sweet, never thought my finger size was average! This is good news!

What do you use the castle stamp on? Looks neat!

Peter Atwood said...

Hehe, I have about a hundred different stamps that I am about to start using this year. I have several projects in mind including a simple keyfob and other new tools which will incorporate some of these images. Also will be experimenting with some precious and semi precious metal inlays.

Oooh...special stamps for special projects! Don't tease us like that... ;)

Hey Peter, I just wanted to say that although I have yet to purchase a tool or knife, I greatly admire your creativity. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to be able to purchase my first tool from you.
