Is this a lead up to "Blade Month" (or whatever people have taken to calling it) or just a little sadism, Mr. Atwood? haha.

There's a Star Trek logo on the belt clip! Nice! :)

Can you explain the cryogenic aging you had performed on the recent wave of MSOPT's?

Peter Atwood said...

All my tools and knives are now going through a professional heat treatment at a world class facility where they are hardened in a vacuum oven, tempered, cryogenically aged in a liquid nitrogen quench and then retempered. This is the identical process that Paul Bos would use and results in a high performance heat treat in the CPM series steels. Certainly far superior to anything I would ever be able to achieve in my home work shop.

Oh yeah, they Rockwell test every batch and keep it at a consistent 58-59 Rockwell. You might see a piece slip through every now and then that will have the round Rockwell test mark on it. Looks like a tiny round dent and each batch has one or two pieces with it.

This is exactly why I don't hesitate to give you my money.

You are selling everything you make within minutes of putting it up for sale, yet you continue to look for ways to make your products better.

Peter,
Have you thought or had any plans in the works for doing any type of collaboration work with your tools / knives and a custom knife maker .?
I would like to see a Hinderer/Atwood
prybaby/spanner/pivot tool prybaby series.
