I'm realtively new to the Atwood Collector's Crowd. So far I've scored a Diamond knurl whistle, a Wharncliffe Booger and a G1 Prybaby.
I'm hoping this "survey" is to get a feel for what Mr. Atwood might be planning for the future.
As such, I voted for the Bug Out Bar. An old school Bug Out Bar is on the top of my list. Along with a Wedgie and a microcard and a.... well you know....
This is a hard one. I like the Bike Tool, but love the Shark Bite (it has just the perfect size and a lot of capabilities). The Bermuda is great to fiddle with but feels also a bit chunky in my pocket. I love the Bug out Bar but it has limited use. In the end i selected the Shark Bite, but it leaves me with mixed feelings. I guess it's not fair to vote twice, is it ;-)
Peter- I voted for the "bar" - because I don't have one!! Seriously, I don't know exactly what to think of the polls. (Maybe I should do a poll?) :) The first comment is really on target. Are we voting for what we like or what we want most for you to make more of?!? (Probably both!) Cheers!
I also love the Bugbyte (am wearing one around my neck right now). Problem might be that this tool is... how can I say... "implicit" in other captive bit tools, that have the bugbyte as their core while offering some other functions too. Of course the good thing of the bug is its being so minimalistic, but from an utilitarian point of view, tools like the crawdaddy or the bottlebug eat the poor bug for breakfast.
The two tools I could have purchased and passed on were the Bike Tool and Sharkbite. They seem to be the most popular so far...
Although I am kinda kicking myself for not buying a Sharkbite (they seem to be really useful), I chose the Crawdaddy as my favorite of the group. It is so adorable! I feel like it is my little friend. I don't ride bikes often so for me the bike tool wouldn't serve its best purpose. Plus, I like the smaller things.
However, I carry the BT everyday. I have to have it with me at all times. It is very addicting!
I think my favorite tool would be something requiring a sheath, but none are listed and I don't own one anyway :(
wooHooo! Won my first Atwood today! (Bike Tool) I have been trying for a while too. As an avid cyclist, I am very excited as it will be infinitely useful. Your works are not only utilitarian but art as well - I really like that!
Anyways, obviously I voted for the bike tool :) but the other Atwood 'spawn' I would be all about are the Crawdaddy (if metric - ever thought about that or have you done that already?) and I just L-O-V-E the Tanto Goblin. I really hope you eventually do mini-knives again, someday!

Gregory L, is your guess that rare tools get more votes, or that tools that people actually have (logically, more common tools) get more votes? Which way is the correlation, positive or negative?
Does "captive bit" mean an 0-ring tensions the bit in place when the bit's in use? Or does it mean that the bit rides in the tool, captivated by multiple 0-rings?

I voted for the Bug Out Bar because my really preferred Atwood tool wasn't present (ie Bug Out BLADE)and also because is my first Atwoodite I got and so far only one out of two :-( Second one is a small TT with honeycomb finish who rest daily around my neck :-)

Have you considered two-headed hex bits for any of your tools. Mabye a phillips on one end and an flat-head on the other or two different allen wrench sizes. They'd likely be a little longer, but would double the available driver heads.
Granted these are probably harder to come by and might hurt the design aesthetic, but they could be a good fit for something like the bike tool.
Burmuda triangle! Maybe because it's like 25 degrees outside and the thought of Burmuda makes me think all warm and sunny thoughts...but that B.T. is so cool especially with the splash finish! The Bike Tool is a very close second.

I'm confused. The results call this poll the "captive bit series survey" (or something like that), and yet, the poll lists the Bug Out Bar but doesn't mention the termite. Peter, was that intentional? Is the Bug Out Bar the "control" case to test whether we like the whole "captive bit" concept? Why leave out the Termite (which I would consider the Bug Out Bar contribution to the captive bit series)?
FWIW, I voted for the BT because it was the least "captive bit" and most iconic of the captive bit series (save for the Bug Out Bar, which I dont consider to be part of the captive bit series).
I am pretty new to Atwood stuff but not with edc pieces. I just got my titanium flat gasbaby and I have to say that this thing is amazing. It is so small and so strong...I also have a regular gasbaby and while they are both nice, the flat one is simply astounding.
I would vote for any tool with a prying tip to be made in a flat version. I can literally slide this in my wallet over a credit card in a card slot. Very cool.
Needless to say the tropical version is beautiful, but there is something about the solid colors...
I know you are inundated, but Peter...Ti flat biketool or shark bite? Nibble maybe?
Peter- The software for the survey is cool! The only problem I see with it is that my spouse wanted to vote and apparently this thing recognizes the router (or service provider address?) because it wouldn't let her. Might cause a problem on some networks. She was voting on another computer in a different part of the house. (I don't know who's snow we keep getting but please take it back!)
I voted for the Bug Out Bar. There is something about an attractively executed robust tool. KISS simple. The Prybaby started my interest, but the idea of a 3/16" or 1/4" CPM 3V Bug Out Bar being added to an emergency kit really fits the bill. The inclined plane (wedge) is the simplest tools known to man, couple that with the lever, and you have a winning combination for moving and breaking things in the way during an emergency. That's the Bug Out Bar, excellent kit for the Bug Out Bag, or load out gear. Good stuff Peter! Please keep those "boring" tools coming. Your fit, finish and choice of materials give the tools that certain "je ne sais quoi." Pardon my french! :D

Some signs that you're a hard-core Atwood tool collector:
- You have problems deciding which tool to use to open a beer.
- You fiddle constantly with your Bermuda Triangle and call it "My Precious."
- You hope for bike trouble to have an excuse to use your bike tool.
- You seriously consider a tropical Bermuda Triangle as a jewelry piece for your girlfriend.
- You hear kids talking about "boogers" and you think "that is a nice little knife".
