Available Tools

I just made a new section of my website for Available Tools. This is the only place I'll be posting items for sale on my site from now on and that should cut down on the bandwidth issues a little bit.

Peter, you should check with your service provider/host. You're not running gzip compression which will dramatically reduce the bandwidth you're consuming by compressing the data before sending it to the clients. Gzip compression is the standard these days.

If it's apache you are running make sure they have mod_gzip installed and configured properly.

Check out http://www.whatsmyip.org/mod_gzip_test/

Based on what I'm seeing you can save between 50 and 80% of your bandwidth bill...

Send me an email if you need some more pointers, atwoodhelp@iworktoomuch.com

Peter:

You can block bots completely. This will completely stop the bot traffic. Your webmaster should be aware of how to do so if they know what they're doing. If they don't then you need to fire them and get a webmaster that knows how to control/stop bots properly. This task is a fundamental skill for any decent webmaster and one of the things they should be able to easily implement.

Good idea. I like it a lot, makes it easy to quickly check and see if anything's available or not.

I'm still trying to "score" my first website buy...been trying for a month now...

Thanks for making the mod --Bolster

They say available yet they are sold out, saw the whistle, and even though I wanted the naval brass riffle barrel, I considered the titanium because it wasn't sold out, only to click it and it was sold out. Just out of curiosity are these too be available tools, just were available and you missed them, or am I missing a clarification on available tools.

Hey Peter! I wonder what you as an expert think of the new Leatherman Skeletool, which I just read about in a posting on the 'net by some guy who's absolutely raving crazy in love with it (http://www.leathermanskeletool.com). Should I check it out? Or should I hang on to my trusty old Swiss Army Knife?
