Howdy Folks,
Gearing up for a busy week here. I'm working on Flat G5 Prybabies(R) today and hope to do a sale tomorrow. Also coming later this week are some lovely 5 Ribbed Longslides but this time in aluminum with black HAIII hardcoat anodizing. And we're getting a new BigShot design dialed in this week which will hopefully be ready just before or just after Christmas, we'll see how it goes.
Anyway, today I have the rest of the G5 Roids done, this time with antique diemaker stamps. They are mostly different and the batch is quite small so it's a one per customer sale on them please...they are $80 plus shipping.
One note on the CPM 3v Roids...CPM 3v is a TOOL STEEL. That means that is NOT stain resistant and it will be subject to light rusting. I don't find this a problem because 3v is a bad ass steel with superior lateral strength (prying) and extreme toughness and that is the tradeoff that you make for corrosion resistance. Personally I happen to like the patina of surface rust that will develop over time, just like all the antique tools in my collection, many of which I use on a regular basis and are 100+ years old. But just be aware on the cosmetic front that 3v steel may rust more easily than other steels. ;)
All gone, thank you!

Wow, perfect timing on my end, just finished proctoring a physics final. So happy this will be my first Atwood product. Thanks a ton!
Yay! Win!
These look to be bead blasted too. Is this the case?
Wow, that was super fast!
Finally got a roid after waiting, what is it, eight months since your original batch? :)
Thanks for all your great work Peter, just like to wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas!!!
I have been trying to hold out for a pest, ghost, or snakebite style, but with my field schedule I was never around to check the site. I am delighted to have checked in time to get one of these!
I am looking forward to the patina that develops on it! Like you've mentioned, I also have a collection of old buggy tools and tools from the machine shop that was part of the turn of the century coal mine on our ranch in Alberta. The history is slowly being eroded away, but the old tools that I find buried in the coal are still as beautiful and functional as the day they were handmade on the mine forage!

Whew! I got the sale shut down just in time before overselling the number I had in stock. Thanks so much folks.
Yes Dan, these are bead blasted, thanks.
Teaches me to take a shower.
Peter, is this a different steel than the other Roids?
For the lucky ones: I have the original version too. I've taken a 3 lb sledge to the back of it, trying to remove a frozen brake booster. Not a mark on it!
i almost had one but took a few minutes to try to figure out the difference between a roid and a prybaby....when i went back to the page to buy, they were all gone! oh well....and i still can't figure out the difference between the two as they look exactly alike.
Score! I passed on the last Roid sale, so it was great to see the newest run with stamps.
Am I right to assume that this is the .285" as well?
There's summer weight thin G5's regular G5's at 5/32nd" (0.1563") and the last Roid G5's were .285" thick. Soon to be Flat ones that will be even thinner than summer weight, probably close to the thickness of a Swinger.
For those that want to prevent some of the rusting. You can oil your roid every so often . I personally have a gun cleaning rag that has some residual CLP breakfree on it that I rub the Roid down with.
Missed the last batch so glad I Just managed to get in on time for these.... phew. Thanks Peter.
Has the hi CRI Mule arrived yet ? Very tempted myself :)
These are sweet. Just as well I missed it, the Roid probably would have started picking on my summer weight G5 (once these tools get on the juice, they might win the NL MVP but they could still be prone to rage). Congrats to those who scored!
So are the roids finished then as usual actually having a job prevents me from winning yet again.
Holy cow Peter. I got my G5 from the first run... this thing is MASSIVE!
It should come with some kind of warning.
I'm surprised it didn't have to be shipped UPS Ground due to the weight!
It may be big but it screams high quality.
Flats today?! :D
im waiting for the same thing ;[ i missed out the other day
Flat G5s today?
K2,
These Roids are awesome! Peter should charge more due to the weight, and sheer thickness of the steel. I'd love a Roid titanium, as well. Well worth the purchase, if we can catch one. I was really hoping for a stamp, but first come first serve..... OH well.
This thing is majorly substantial, though.
No sale today? I've been checking this like a fiend trying to get a flat G5. If it's thinner than my summer weight G5 I've gotta have it! I just hope you put them up for sale before I have to fly out tomorrow night (Air Force pilot getting shafted by having to fly a mission over Christmas... but lots of guys have it a lot worse!).
ditto here....have been checking the site every few minutes because I missed yesterday's sale...
Received my G5 Roid ... postage and customs to the UK ! It's a beauty. Thanks Peter :)
