OK, I have some Minis ready to go finally. This is the first wave only. I have several wave's worth of these coming over the next few days with several different flavors. This group is the largest and I'm calling it the Mini Plus Prybaby® to distinguish it from the Original Mini Prybaby®. The only difference between the two designs is the 1/4" hex in the body and also the Mini Plus is slightly lighter stock at 1/8" thick. These are all S30v steel.
A word on the tumbling. These have a nice satin stonewashed finish but are not quite as shiny as my recent batches of tools. Also, everything that came back from this tumble has some remnants of bronze heat coloring on the edges and inside surfaces and in the name stamps. This is the result of the tempering oven cycles and usually I don't see this. Not quite sure what they did differently but I want to make it plain up front so that folks don't email me thinking there is rust on any of these pieces. It's NOT rust, just heat coloring.
I will also be doing a portion of these with a bead blasted finish just like the original Minis. So more of them will be coming as I get them done. The straight Mini Plus group with stonewashed finish is what I have done right now so they are up first. XLs will be coming probably tomorrow afternoon. I did not get to any lefties yet. Thanks for checking in folks! :)
Mini Plus Prybabies® are $45 each plus shipping. Link is here:
Sold Out for now, more tomorrow. Thank you!
Nice...got one...my first Atwood.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Love the old school. Going to pass, and save my luck for the XLs!
ReplyDeletewhat to do...what to do.....ahhh
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should have held out for a lefty.
ReplyDeleteNah! Just scored my first Atwood! :)
Order is in! Thanks Peter!
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter,
ReplyDeleteI was able to get one ordered for delivery to home base, where I will have it sent out to me on Kwaj. YIPPY... Sometimes it just works out. Will keep my eyes on the site as we are in a holding pattern just now... something about 2 presidents meeting in Russia and how it may not be politically advisable to test launch on the same day as the meeting. You have to love it.
anxious to see the heat treat color variations. sound interesting.
ReplyDeletehi,
ReplyDeleteas i have a superbug on my keychain, i wasn't going to grab one of these. however, i tried to follow along this morning just to see if i could have snagged one. i missed the sale by a mile! these sold out in less than half an hour, correct?
i've been following these sales for a while now, and have been lucky enough to catch a few great pieces. i want to say that the most popular request i see is for XL versions (any pry tool with a bend). may i humbly request that you do a lottery for the XL's? because unless you've made more than 300 pieces, there will be a lot of disappointed followers tomorrow afternoon.
thanks and keep up the great work!
"unless you've made more than 300 pieces, there will be a lot of disappointed followers tomorrow afternoon."
ReplyDeleteThere will still be a lot of disappointed people if there's a lottery, it will just be a different bunch of people! ;)
Chance favors the ever clicking mouse...Thanks Peter
ReplyDeleteMade it in finally! Sweet!

lol, yes of course! but the disappointment over losing a lottery is very different than missing a ten minute sale after checking the site for days. while my odds may not be any better in getting a tool, just going through the motions of entering the lottery (yes, give the mouse a wheel to run in!) makes all the difference...
Missed it! AAAAAAA......
ReplyDeleteI feel like Peter has given a pretty good advance notice on these sales... I'm just happy to know "about" when these tools go on sale. Now for the watch on the XL!
ReplyDelete<-- fingers crossed
Peter,
ReplyDeleteThanks to you it's another first (have the Ti version) for my collection.
And thanks for the notice of the sale day. It's a fair way of giving everybody a heads up.
Best,
Richard
Are any going to be like the original without the the hex opening?
ReplyDeleteWow, first of all, thank you so much folks! I was literally slammed with orders and am still working on them. Will be doing the packages tonight.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have an upcoming wave that will be ones with no hex opening. Probably not the next one though as I want to do Mini Plus XLs next.
What about saving lefty-specific minis for their own sale?
ReplyDeleteSeems easier than rushing to get a click in on time and still worry about there being enough of the right kind.
And righties out there: please leave the few lefties Peter makes to those who can truly appreciate them...
I scored another Atwood! Peter, can we expect a blade in the future?
ReplyDeleteKnives! Geez guys, how much stuff can I make? I will get to some knives eventually but there won't be many and it will be lottery only. I just can't make enough stuff I'm afraid...
ReplyDeleteMini plus XL eh? Weeeeeeee! Ha!
ReplyDeletecool, miss it...will try next batch
ReplyDeleteis this same size as the keychain prybaby?
After this run of tools I hope you get out and enjoy the foliage that will be turning on out your way during the next few weeks.
ReplyDeleteAahh..autumn is near...
Looking forward to the Mini Plus in my mailbox later on this week.
Now back to the music!

An enviable position Peter, it has to feel nice to know that your ideas and skills are in such demand.
Thanks again for the Mini, looking forward to receiving it!
Hi Peter,
ReplyDeleteCan you give the dimensions on the mini prybabies, mini prybabies XL and the g3 prybabies.
Thanks,
Tim
The Minis and XLs are the same size essentially, just the XLs are bent slightly.
ReplyDeleteMinis: 2.5" long, 3/4" wide
G3: 3.1" long, 7/8" wide
Thanks Peter,
ReplyDeleteAny time frame on more G3's?
I may have two or three here right now. Next batch will be in about three or four weeks.
ReplyDeleteI hope I'm lucky in those knife lotteries then... I've had my prybaby fix since long ago so I always leave these for others unless they're really pimped out. I actually miraculously woke up from a night of drinking and checked my computer about 10 minutes after this tool was posted. Hope I'll have such good timing for any non-lottery stuff I want in the future. Maybe I'm developing an atwood-sense?
ReplyDeletemaybe today i am lucky!!!
ReplyDeletePeter,
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't have to be a knife, how about a pop&chop? Just something small I can place in a coin pocket with an edge... Or a mini keykutter PLEASE! Thank you.
Ben is the Atwood Whisperer :-)
ReplyDeleteI am about to break my F5 key.
ReplyDeleteOoooooo....I've been watching this blog for so long and am finally able to check in occasionally this afternoon......maybe I will be lucky today and get my first Atwood.
ReplyDeletePop and chop would be my vote for an Atwood blade
ReplyDeleteMine arrived in the mail today, first Atwood tool, and I immediately used it to open a celebratory beer. Thank you Peter!
ReplyDeleteHey there!
ReplyDeleteI just recieved the Mini Plus Prybaby in today's mail. This is the smallest Atwood I own and man-o-man your stamp on these is micro!
Was not sure if I would like the 1/4" Hex feature, but it does create a firm grip to your thumb, so I like it very much. (...Ok, I admit it was bad-ass when I hit the link to buy...)
Also, Thanks for the extra chord for the G3 & Atwrench, greatly appreciated.
It's all good.
@Christoph
ReplyDeleteSame here, Frosty Harpoon Octoberfest to the sun setting.
