EDK with Hardwood

Hello Folks,

Today I have some more EDK knives done. These have beautiful hardwood handles made of Morado, sometimes called Bolivian Rosewood. Not a true rosewood but lovely nevertheless, it is dense and heavy. I am told it is sustainably harvested which is always a plus and hopefully that is true. The grain and figure vary widely on these and don't expect bookmatched handles or anything that fancy...however, ALL these knives are gorgeous and it's just about killing me to actually have to part with any of them. Sigh, I do love nice wood! :D

These wood handles have been lightly oiled with food grade mineral oil and I recommend you do so periodically to keep them nice. There are a number of other food grade products available for maintaining fine wood and I will be testing some as time goes on. At any rate, as with the black handled EDKs, hand wash only and towel dry.

These are slightly more than the synthetic handled EDKs, $125 each plus shipping. As before, insured shipping is $10 and International will ship via Express Mail for $26. Thanks for stopping by!

First wave is sold out, thank you! I will have more very soon. ;)

  6. Gah wish I had a bit more spare dosh at the moment, if I bought one of these I'd really have to use it in the Kitchen and I just cannot justify that much for a kitchen knife right now! If only I could afford two, one to put away in the safe and one to use! :)

  11. Simply awesome, Peter. I caught the first sale link this weekend but had a total Pay Pal snafu trying to buy from my phone... I guess karma gave me another chance and I'm so happy to grab one with the wood handles. What's even better is I can "give" this to my foody wife, and now I can say that she's into Atwood's too -- see, honey this is just for you ;-) Woot!

  13. Def LOVE these.. insomuch that both my son and I cook a lot, and his wustoff is still too heavy for him (hey he's only 8 :-)) I think this would be the perfect knife for him.

  15. SWEET, got one.
Can´t wait to try it, as a former chef i´m very picky about knifes. The steel is no doubt excellent, let´s see how the shape works.

  16. Very nice, guys! Congrats to the lucky ones. I was crowing about getting one of the black handles, not knowing the wood was coming out. I love a beautiful piece of wood. I shouldn't be surprised. Peter always seems to top himself.

  17. Got the black one toady, and I've got to say I'm impressed. I'm no chef or anything, but the balance is great and Peter's right about the blade geometry. I just butterflied some shimp and I liked it very much. Sharp enough to shave the hair off my arm afterword. I'm real curious to see how long the edge lasts like Peter was talking about. I do like the thickness of the blade. Not too thin, not too thick. Pretty perfect EDK!

  24. I love steak..and steak knives! I have a couple of custom sets of 4. Used my black EDK tonight on a juicy ribeye and it worked to perfection...now I can't stop thinking how to get 3 more of these. Peter, any chance of a nice matched set? I am a woodworker and would be happy to supply the case.
