Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a pleasant and relaxed Easter weekend.
I did a bit of work on Saturday and have the first of the anodized Lanslides completed. These have a warm rose gold anodized color on them with ultraviolet blush highlights over a satin finish. They are $15, same as the plain ones.
Gold ones are gone, blue will be next once I get them done. Thank you!
warm rose gold? is difficult to see on picture
ReplyDeleteLove the color.... would have really loved them if they were diamond knurl :D
ReplyDeleteHey, any update on mass quantity purchases for ranger bed sets?
Peter: What else is coming up soon?
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to be doing any mass quantity sales until I have run a lot more of these. When the demand reduces and a sale of a few dozen can stay up for a few hours it will be time to do larger quantities. However, right now, I am selling these much much faster than I can possibly make them. There is a real limit as to how many I can get run on any given day or in a week. They just don't run in quantities of thousands nor is material available to make them in those kind of quantities. At $43 per foot it isn't exactly economical either.
ReplyDeleteNate, more beads this week. ;) After that probably Wroaches but I need to find some time to finish the sanding and prep work. I'm behind on most of my projects and this nice weather isn't helping keep me in the shop. Let's pray for rain. :D
hey Peter, what's the new profile pic?
ReplyDeletePeter: Like the new avatar. Any special significance to the piece or do you just think it looks cool?
ReplyDeletePeter, what in your opinion is the brightest color you make? Thanks Gary :>)
ReplyDeleteI just figured out that all of the sales one here occur within a span of 12 hrs...so now all I have to do is pay attention all hours of the day to nab another atwood. It's almost too easy.
ReplyDeleteThat's right, between 8AM and 8PM 7 days a week 365 days a year. :D
ReplyDeleteGary, the brightest color is probably UV I guess....
The new avatar is a picture of a livery button from the late 1800's. I picked up a bunch of them off of Ebay a while back. They all came from England and I love the heraldic imagery on them. My understanding is that these buttons were used by different families and so everyone in the family would have the family button design on their clothes. At least that's what I think they are, I may be wrong.
Can't wait for the blue ones. Keeping my eyes peeled all day tomorrow. Any hint as to when we might look for them? ;) (besides between 8am and 8pm)
ReplyDeletePeter, I guess I should have looked on your facebook page photos for the different looks. It looks like the gold and plain colored ones are shiny looking while the others are dull. Am I seeing that right? Thanks again, Gary :>)
ReplyDeleteGary,
ReplyDeleteSome are satin finished straight off the machines with anodized colors and those appear brighter.
For some colors such as UV or green I don't get good results with the satin finish, the colors end up very washed out looking. So for higher voltage colors I have to bead blast first. Bead blasting evens out the surface and gives the color a matte and somewhat muted look. At the same time all the teeny tiny marks give it a bit of a sparkle though so depending on the media it can vary as to how bright it looks.
The third type of anodizing is on a tumbled surface and the end look varies widely according to how shiny the stonewashed finish is. It can be dark and rich or even sugary in appearance.
So there are many types of options that make it difficult to say for sure what the brightest color is.
Thanks Peter!!! Looks like for the ano Dot beads I'm leaning toward the gold! Really like the way it looks!!!! Great explanation, thanks Gary :>)
ReplyDeletePeter,
ReplyDeleteThe Lanslide you sent with Dots is Fantastic!
