What's the Word?

In case you all were wondering what is next...

I sent out the titanium Perforated Prybabies to the tumblers earlier this week. For those unfamiliar with this tool it is a titanium version of the swiss cheese Prybabies that I made a few years ago. The old batch was made in steel. These titanium ones are the thickest Prybabies I have ever done at 3/16 thick and they look very similar to the original design although I did tweak the holes a little. The holes make the Perfies incredibly light at only 1/2 oz each. Speaking of holes, there are 37 per piece and both sides had to be countersunk so they were quite a bit of work besides the usual grinding and milling steps. Due to the extra work involved, the material costs and the waterjet costs these will come in at $90 each plus shipping. I will have them finished and available by the end of next week. As soon as I get them back from the tumblers I will snap a few pictures. I'll be doing a variety of colors.

Other projects: I'm working on some steel G3 Prybabies as well and should have them going in about 2-3 weeks. The next batch of WingNuts will follow that. Another batch of BigShots has been started and I will have regular ones with knurling and also some of the fancier DotShots with knurling. Also in the works is another small batch of Chiggers. And I will be revisiting the original Atwrench design in late November or early December but this time with a metric wrench set, the largest of which will be 15mm.

These are also some more Sign Up Sales coming with a variety of odds and ends in between the larger releases.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Thanks,

Peter

  3. Thanks for the update Peter,

Those Ti Perforated Prybabies sound like they are giving you some extra fun just for us...maybe we'll get some funky rainbow or striped versions just to add to the fun??? :)

  4. Well I made quite a few of them so I don't think it's going to be a problem. ;) This may be the only batch I ever make though...

  5. I doubt that there will be patterned ones because it would be like mixing stripes and plaids. Plus, there isn't very much surface to show a pattern on since most of the tool is holes. But you can be sure there will be rainbow ones and naturally I have a few other ideas as well... ;)

  7. These sound great, I've been looking or a 'perfbaby' for a while now...

How about some with DLC? :)

  8. DLC? Shoot man, I have already quite literally spent a fortune on these things just to make the basic ones let alone add more time and money for DLC. But, you never know, if the timing worked out I might send a mixed batch of stuff for coating. ;)

  13. That's a good idea, I should leave some plain and unanodized.

  14. Wow Peter, sounds like you're gearing up for Xmas with that list of coming attractions. Can't wait to see (and hopefully buy) the wonderful results. Really loving what I have so far!

  19. Peter, just wanted to say that I've been loving (and using!) the BottleBug I picked up from you a while ago. The phillips bit comes in handy more times than you'd think (in places a normal phillips screwdriver can't fit), and I use it for opening cardboard boxes as much as bottles of beer.

Definitely a design I'd love to see you revisit---cause I feel bad that I've got one and no one else does! ;)

  25. I love your current projects, I just wish you'd make knives again. :(

Gonna try for one of the perforated prybabies though!

  26. Sounds like a cool batch of tools, the Ti Perforated Prybabies have GOT to be something! We will be getting underway on Monday, but might have some net up on the 10 day trip across. Next stop Kwajalein, there until January. Slow internet, but better then nothing. Keep on keeping on!

  27. So Peter, given your love of photography, have you ever considered shooting and posting 'the life of a prybaby'?(or wingnut or bigshot or chigger or ...) Shots showing the evolution from base materials to finished product, so your fans have even more appreciation for just how much effort and craftsmanship goes into your creations. Just a thought from a fellow photo enthusiast.

  28. Hi Peter,

Is there any way for people in a non US timezone to indicate interest for a preorder? I've been avidly watching these pages for quite some time now, but every time when I get up in the morning to see a new post, they're already all gone.

I'd personally be happy to pony up my hard-earned cash right now if it would secure me a Ti Prybaby in the future...

I really appreciate the hard work and attention to detail that you put into your tools. The craftsmanship is amazing and the industrial design is very cool. They are incredibly desirable objects.

  29. Oh, I'd also like to add that I'd give my left arm for a metric wrench set!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I can't get into preorders because they get out of hand instantly. It turns into mayhem and confusion. What I can tell you is I usually have extras, just EMAIL ME.

  31. 3/16 thick Ti sounds great for the perfbabies!

    Any metric wingnuts planned?

Sounds great--I can't wait to see them.

  35. wow a TI prybaby sounds awsome... I just hope I catch it before they are all gone. Going to Japan in a few weeks so I am getting afraid I may not be around to even try and get one. Also love the Damascus prybaby you did awhile back. Would love to see that again...

  36. I'm getting that feeling. These are close. ;D

  37. I've been checking several times a day every day. Where are the Holy Prybabies? :^)

  39. Will any of these be in left-handed version?

    ReplyDelete
  40. No, I'm sorry but I did not make any lefthanded ones in this batch.
