Return of the RingThings

Well I finally got the rest of the sheaths done for the remaining RingThing knives. These all have a stonewash finish and there are just a handful available. There are also a limited number of DLC ones coming shortly but probably via the lottery.

RingThings are Sold Out, thanks!

  2. Ring bottle openers work better than narrow vertical pry bottle openers—that's why the one nailed to the backside of every bar for the bartender to use is shaped more like a ring (perhaps with flattened edges). Both contact areas with the cap are broader, so less wasteful bending occurs and the cap's shape retains its structural integrity, making it easy to pop the cap in one smooth stroke. If the ring on this tool is about the right size for bottle opening, you might perfect the size/shape, then do something else with the space currently allocated to the vertical pry opener. I'd be first in line to buy something like that.

Just a thought. Keep making great tools.

  3. It takes a big ring to make that kind of opener happen. Yes, they work well but this type is so much more compact and can be worked into various designs. You are tremendously limited with the other kind.

  7. RingThing is exactly what I've been looking for! When will you be releasing them? I don't want to miss out on the chance to get one!

  8. You missed them I'm afraid. I had a dozen and they went in a few minutes.

I have some DLC ones coming up in a day or two and will do them via the lottery so everyone gets a chance at them.

  10. Peter,
Please could you release items at different times, say after 5:00 pm for those of us that work out in the field and are not starring at the computer all day.

  14. Peter - thanks for the lead to Berkeley Point for high-quality stainless mini clips, split rings and other cool goodies.

Maybe add a link on Planet Pocket Tool (www.berkeleypoint.com)?

A word of caution to new visitors... just like any trip to Home Depot, it's all too easy to spend $100 at Berkely – even with their EDC-member discount!

I guess something should be a surprise.
