Update

I had a set back last week when the bearings on my grinder finally gave out. I had been meaning to replace them for some time and had replacements on hand. However, when I actually got the thing apart I discovered that the drive shaft was worn out so had to order another one. Got it over nighted and did the rebuild yesterday.

Now I'm working on getting a batch of the new WildCard knives ready to send to heat treat. Should be ready to send off by tomorrow. These are the updated credit card knives that I previewed on the Museum blog a few weeks ago.

Next will be finishing some pieces from the DLC batch. These will be slow to finish because most of them are knives so I'll have to get back into sheath mode. I'm actually trying to decide whether to tackle those first or go ahead and spend three more days grinding and get the Extended G3 Prybabies ready for heat treat as well. It's hard to juggle all this stuff at once and keep it flowing...

  2. Thanks for the update...

Sounds like a lot of cool stuff coming...

Hate it when equipment you depend on goes down. Glad to hear you got it up and running again...

Maybe you should get two grinders... Afterall, you have two hands...haha...

  3. Actually, I am going to buy another grinder next week. :D It's a horizontal edge grinder though for profiling pieces and doing finger grooves, that sort of thing. Would be nice to have a third one that I could have set up so that I could go from one to another down the line but it hasn't seemed worth it.

  4. Peter, you are using a KMG aren't you? I am thinking of picking one up here in a bit, seems to be an awesome grinder for a very fair price!!

  5. Cool to hear, Peter!

Question: What are the dimensions of the Wildcards? Trying to figure out how pocketable it is...

    Thanks

  6. Yup, a KMG. Amazing machine, rock solid and HEAVY duty. I had one of the very early ones and the bearings have since been upgraded a bit. These should be good for much longer.

The edge grinder is also from Beaumont Metal Works. Very versatile and well made. I'm getting mine with the extension plate for 72" belts. Google them and watch the cool videos.

  7. WildCards are 2.25" x 1.5" and are just under 1/8" thick. Just right for a wallet. I will not be doing sheaths for them as they are designed to be a backup piece in your wallet or checkbook.

  8. oh yeah i have seen the vids, they are amazing and like you said, rock solid. I have yet to hear anything bad about beaumont metal works! their horizontal is awesome and with the extension plate, you can share belts with the the vertical grinder! now the hard part of trying to maintain my shop budget while you are releasing all these edged goodies!!

    thx Peter!!

  9. Thanks for the update. :)

My vote is for the extended G3s sooner than later. I'm already broke and I suspect over the next few months it is only going to get worse!

  10. Thanks for the update, Peter. Glad to hear you've gotten things under control.

I can't wait for the WildCards...

Any idea on pricing for these just yet?

    Thanks!

  11. Peter,
Just want to add my words of appreciation and encouragement to everyone else's. Thanks for creating such cool tools. Please keep up the lottery system, I feel I have a chance not whereas before I didnt.

  13. Mega dittos from a conservative. Keep it up and start buying Red Bull by the case :) BTW, get crackin'-- Great stuff and we (well, most) fans know it'll become available as soon as it's ready--duh. Even if I don't get something via the lottery, I feel like I've a better chance than w/o it.

  14. Nice, back to full strength and then some!

I look forward to the wildcards, should be a pretty cool tool. Definitely a step forward in the evolutionary scale.

And as a somewhat unrealistic dreamer, I think about smaller wrenchless versions of the wildcard as well. Here's to dreams lol.

  15. Doh another "wrench" (pun intended) thrown into the works to further keep me from deciding on what to order.

I too am curious on the pricing as if it is in my range I may try and get one of these, or I may save up for a SOPT if not, its too difficult to choose.

  16. I haven't settled on a price yet for the WildCard knives but probably in the $85-95 range.

  17. Hey Peter, those WildCards are looking cool...but..
I'm kinda hoping for a metric G3..any idea when we'll those? (maybe even in XL?)
I had hoped for a metric Atwrench, but unless I missed them they never were made right?

  18. Right, have not made the metric ones yet. Half of the extended G3 Prybabies are metric and half are American wrench sizes. Something tells me I'll be making more of them this winter too. :)

  19. Sweet I have it down between the wildcard, the SOPT or BOB.

For the price, and function this may
    win. Love the new design.

I may have to look into one of these metric prybabies, or the Atwrench if its eventually offered in metric.

Great stuff, just wish I had the money to get a little of everything.
