Alright, this is Geeky :D
I was playing around a couple of weeks ago just looking for something a little different. I do not currently plan to make any of these, just exploring the idea a little. It is possible I may do something for a wrist though at some point or maybe a belt buckle or a titanium slide tool for nylon webbing. This particular piece is 44mm in diameter and uses a 22mm Maratac one piece Zulu strap.

How about a set of Area 51 tweezers incorporated in your setup?
I like what IM seeing here, but it need a quick removal mechanism. I can c this attached to my Fatboy shoulder strap, but if you could make the tool S shaped, with the strap pass throughs ends opened so that you can twist/slide it in the strap...getting my picture?

I looked at the full sized pic and found a secret. You broke the Atwood stamp into two lines. That's a nice touch to use your original stamp in a limited space. BTW, I would love to see a belt buckle tool or a tool that I can wear on the waist.
ReplyDeletePeter, I'm currently on the other side of the earth visiting my family and friends. I brought a mini prybaby to a great friend of mine as a gift. This is the first Atwood tool that I've ever parted with. My friend LOVES it. I made him promise to use/abuse it to see the true soul of a Atwood tool.
Hehe, Joe, the double name stamp was an accident. The stamp moved when I went to whack it a second time while trying to touch up the first one. This was a proto just to see if I could get the concept to work so I didn't bother sanding it off and doing it over.

Peter, this is extremely creative. If you're doing a little test marketing here, I'd say I would not purchase a wrist tool for wear (although I might for collection, depending on price, etc). However, a belt buckle multi-tool would be a very useful item to carry. So would a web-strap tool, such as might fit on a laptop strap, or on a backpack strap. I like the direction you're headed with this idea.

ReplyDeletePeter it would be amazing if you did a belt buckle. I have a sweet pewter Creature from the Black Lagoon one but yours would replace it immediately. A sliding webbing tool would be great also, who wouldn't want an Atwood on the strap of their edc bag? Those are some solid ideas.

ReplyDeleteAs a wrist tool, I'm suddenly wondering if there's a way to attach a watch over the bits and the retention rings with velcro or something. You could flip the watch off and voila! You have bits, bottle opener, etc.

Oh, and as a belt buckle. That's just an incredibly awesome idea. That's up there with the 686 Enterprises tool belt.
i would LOVE LOVE LOVE a belt buckle! something a bit more subtle than 2 bits in the middle, but still very atwood-y. great new direction for EDC tools!

I really like this idea, and modding it for a belt buckle, i would put that on my filson double bridle belt :)
ReplyDeleteJust a thought/idea...how bout if you do develop this, an area small compartment that is magnitized? not sure if that would work, i've seen a wrist tool holder that is magnitized somewhere, and i think it would lend nicely to your idea here. I would also like to see you develop a dual sport motorcycle tool similar to the one you have for the bicycle tool.

ReplyDeleteWhile some type of wrist, belt buckle, webbing sliding tool would be cool, I'd also like to see some sort of bit holding device to carry a couple of extra bits. A bit speed loader, bit bandolier, etc.... Something that could fit on a belt, webbing, or Maratac one-piece strap, or carried in your pocket on a lanyard.
