I thought I'd do a few of these little guys in titanium. Overall length is just about 2.5 inches. I have applied an orange peel texture to the metal and then heat colored these for a more durable finish. The surface is much harder than conventional electrical anodizing and it resists fingerprints very well. The trade off is that it is impossible to achieve an absolutely uniform color over the whole piece, but that just adds to the charm in my opinion and makes each piece unique. Plain satin finish with orange peel will also be available.
Nice! So is the "business end" more screwdriver, or for prying? Or a bit of both?
ReplyDelete2nd question: Coming this week?
3rd question: Any more crawdaddys coming? I didn't grab one when I saw them (was still making up my mind) and ever since they disappeared, I've regretted my inaction.
Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteThe screwdriver end will also pry very nicely just like on any of my Prybabies.
Yes, will have a few done this week.
More Crawdaddys are on the way. I just started on another small batch today and so it will be next week probably...I will be making a very large batch of these in the near future though so fear not!
Also will look into doing a metric version of the Crawdaddy but I'm not sure it will happen right away.
All your answers were the "right" ones. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmmm.....metric!
More creativity from the Atcave.
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
I like the finish. Gives it a little more personality.
ReplyDeleteAny knives in the near future?
How much do you expect to sell these bugbites for? Is it possible to reserve one? (Your stuff sells out quickly!)
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Also, quite happy to hear that more Crawdaddys are on the way. Keeping my eye out for one of those. So many creative designs in a row and all quickly taken...
ReplyDeleteThanks folks! :)
ReplyDeleteThe BugBites will be $55 shipped.
Great, now I have to order a third Attool this week, hope my wife isn't checking the bank account.

Love the BugBite with finish - just ordered two after explaining to spouse why they were necessary to finish kitchen renovation.
ReplyDeleteJonesing for Crawdaddy in standard and metric. Will need to relate purchase to finishing work on some article of importance to spouse.
Your work is amazing. I ordered my first Atwood tool this weekend, the bottlebug. How many units are in a regular batch and how long does it take to make them? Not counting design, testing, and such. Just production.
ReplyDeleteYour work is wonderful, as always, but this one makes me want to ask-- what IS it?
ReplyDeleteI think you should make a little gizmo that has no functionality whatsoever, but with Area 51 grinds and some triangular holes and a cool paint job.
When asked what it is, you can simply say "if you don't know, you shouldn't have one". Then charge $150 each. You'll sell as many as you can make.

Any Titanium Prybabies?
ReplyDeleteThe batch numbers vary considerably. Might be a dozen or less or as many as a hundred. Tool batches are generally much higher than knife batches as knives are so time consuming.
ReplyDeleteNo titanium Prybabies at the moment or on the horizon. Ti BottleBugs are coming though.
What is the BugBite? Why it's a nifty little super compact titanium screwdriver/prytool. :D
