Here's the proto for the HexBaby. As in the GasBaby, the bottle opener area features a 7/16" wrench. Then you have hex sizes in 5/16", 1/4", 3/16" and 5/32". Wanted to get 3/8" in there but couldn't get it to lay out right. Maybe I'll fiddle around with it some more next time.
I am considering a metric size tool and will explore what the common sizes would be that will fit on the tool sometime over the summer. It could possibly be a bike tool version, we'll see.
Wow!! Great stuff!! Can I get dibs on this proto? :) I'll also be watching for and buying a bike tool if/when you decide to make one...

ReplyDeleteA bike tool would be GREAT! I ride the trails to work everyday and would love an Atwood piece to lighten the load and replace the other tools I have to pack.
ReplyDeleteThe only problem I have with a bike tool is I'm not sure I could really put much that would be of use on it. Pretty much everything on most bikes seems to be 4,5,6,8 or 10mm hex screws. And there are already lots of different folding multitools on the market geared specifically to bikes. Where could a one piece tool fit in besides for changing tires?

ReplyDeletePeter, Don't forget the different spoke wrench sizes...Personally I'd rather lug one of these around than a heavy bulky traditional bike tool...

A chain tool, maybe? I have a couple of old Ritchey chain tools with hex and spoke nipple cutouts, but I don't use them unless it is an emergency. And I still need to carry a handful of allen keys and a screwdriver. For roadside work on bicycle hex nuts, I can't improve on a stubby crescent wrench. 4-15mm with plenty of leverage.
